Well, with the cool weather in the forecast, my friends and I decided to do a night run in ABSP last night. The problem was, they all wanted to do "The Squeeze". I tried to convince them that I was guaranteed body damage but they had done "research" and thought with the perfect line, stacked rocks, and good spotters, it could be done without touching. I decided "what the heck", this is what I use this for. See for yourself, an 80 series CAN make it through The Squeeze, :flipoff2:.

...........with slight damage

Ok, I thought I made it through cleanly, but I guess plastic rubbing the rocks doesn't make any noise . Not too bad, kissed the passenger side flares and one spot on the door molding.

Well done! I would rather have those scratches and the memories and story to tell, than no scratches and a regret.

I would guess that you are one of a handful fo people that have taken an 80 through there.

Fun nite run!

So, after The Squeeze we descended Heart Attack Hill. After watching some youtube vidoes of that place and seeing how crazy it can be, I was a little nervous to say the least. My Jeep buddies went first and definitly raised a wheel or two but the 80 with its long wheelbase seemed to descend it smoothly. We cruised around the area for a while finishing up at the Mud Caves. We slept under the stars and left at first light. It was a different experience out there in the dark.

Wow - having stood right at at the squeeze, I was a beliver in the fact that an 80 would not fit w/o serious damage. Pics are worth a thousand words. Great driving and spotting to get thru that with just the scraps you have. Well done!!!

Here's a tip if you consider doing it...

If you are flareless, I am sure you can make it without a scratch, but you will still need help with some good spotting. I had four other people with me and they ALL helped in making this possible. There was one spotter on the front, one on the back, and in one picture you can see two guys up on the side ledge. They helped push the cruiser away from the rock as it leaned. Also, I had to stack two rocks in a hole on the exit on the passenger side. And of course you gotta take nice and slow. I went into this expecting a little damage and was pleased it was only scratches. If you can live with a couple of scratches, then I say go for it! :D

Talked into doing this again

Well, Saturday night my friends were doing another evening/night run out in ABSP again which included the Squeeze, so I decided to give it another shot and see if I could go through cleanly........."I did!, woohoo!" It definitely takes two people sitting up on the rock ledge on the passenger side using their legs to help push the cruiser away as it leans into that side going through. Also, there were new paint marks on the rocks on the right side as well as a fresh pile window shards. Man, that spot really seems to inflict a lot of damage on vehicles.

Next time ditch the spotters, put the blast shield down and use the force.

Wow pushed it a second time! Looks like you have it dialed in. Do you think your lift helps and would a 6" lift help or hurt?

Mark,
I am not sure if the extra lift would help any. The places I scraped the first time were all on the flares and cladding. Once removed, there is obviously more clearance, but I still think the help of a couple of guys pushing the rig away from the rock helps. I wouldn't have tried again without the help. Even the other vehicles look like they are going to scrape until the last moment. There is a hole on the drivers side that the front wheel drops into and causes the rig to lean away from the rock on the passenger side just at the right moment. I have to say, that the section of trail between the Squeeze and Split Rock, is the most fun (insert adrenaline rush here) that I have experienced to date out in ABSP.

Next time ditch the spotters, put the blast shield down and use the force.

Yeah, maybe if I was Luke Skywalker,
