spent the better part of the day working on the door panels. Going to do the final wood cut next weekend and then make the metal panel. Ordering the Lokar parts today, might go power windows as a way to open the area for a larger armrest & other design elements. Here's a picture of the first cut:

But the overall design will be a mixture of the following:

@beno - are the 62 power window components still available?

Next stop, Monday, appointments with 3 fabrication shops to see if I can get someone to make the headlight doors to match the grill.

Shane

Like what Shane? You have switched and motors. Most all of them are gone.

Crap. . .thx, man - was going to go OEM but if the all of the needed conversion parts aren't available, I'll go aftermarket. . .and maybe put a Toyota sticker on them for the feel good value =)

And took initial measurements for the new HVAC unit. . .prepping for when the entire fcuking dash comes out!

Received a box when I got home from the shop, d'oh! Vehicle gun mount. . .so excited!

And one more thing. . .

I'm WILL have one or the other fabricated for the 60 series:

ICON's : Would be an entire replacement mirror assy.

Mercedes G Wagon: Would be an adapter plate to mount the G Wagon mirrors to the 60

And rec'd a few of the interior samples yesterday - Chilewich. Thinking small insert on door panels, between spars on interior roof, inserts on seats.

Chilewich : Bamboo

ALL OUT!!! I love it

Spent the better part of the day (Monday) meeting/talking with machine/fabrication shops. Two things I learned: Anything is possible and Everything is expensive.

Headlight doors, front Toyota symbol - left used parts with one of the shops. Will meet with them again in a couple of weeks to discuss build options, pricing and timeline. CNC was an option but the cost was prohibitive.

Mirrors. Nothing worth having is easy, right? Went over both options (ICON & Mercedes), both are doable, both reasonable. The Mercedes would be an adaptor plate allowing placement.

The ICON mirror is a little more complex. Ok, a lot more complex, maybe. Placed a call to ICON yesterday. I may order a set of mirrors to check for direct placement without modification. If adapter is needed, could follow the same path as the Mercedes option - or have it custom made.

Either way - either solution - this will be a somewhat expensive option.

On a positive note - had a D'OH moment on the tailgate modification & box. Thinking about taking the lic plate indention out, either relocating to the far right (so you can actually see it) or an external mount. This would allow a drop-in box - think ICON's 40 tailgate design.

Shane, this has easily turned into a 6 figure rig...going to be unreal.

Translated into husband language: Fxxx, is that a mouse? (make busy, make noise, state false alarm). Hey, let's go hangout with Scooby =)

Hah. I've resorted to having parts shipped to work to avoid the question of "what else is there you could possibly need". Plus wife's a little tired of LC parts that are not attached to the LC. Fair point. Almost have the garage at the new house in shape....then I can get back at it.

Thread title very fitting...looking tight.
Looking forward to some of these new approach and creative mods.

Took the 60 to the river house today:

Had some hellacious weather roll thru earlier this week - good excuse to utilize the yet to be used chainsaw:

After a few hours, drove back across the lake and had a few packages on the doorstep:

and from @beno:

Not to shabby of a day. . .woot!

Inspection cover = Damn

I have this weird fascination with parts where it doesn't make any difference whether they are new or not, but they are NEW!!

And I think Shane has it too..... BIG TIME
