Shane's gonna hire a street sweeper to drive in front of him after he gets it put back together (and painted)....I can see him breaking out into a sweat just thinking about a scratch showing up.

Ha. Drove my 2005 LC off the lot, across the street and nearly rolled it in the mud with less than 40 miles on it. Granted, she's going to be an asphalt queen but noooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyy will I baby her. But - that windshield - perhaps the street sweeper wouldn't be such a bad idea, eh =)

Curse me, call me stupid, whatever. . .it's my rig. I'm not sure when. I'm not sure how. I'm sure it won't be easy. I'm sure I'll break something. I'm sure it will take me +6 months to complete. I'm sure. . .my rig will have her frame powder coated.

why?

I'm doing the interior, the motor, the brakes, the body, the axles, the suspension, the dash, the lights, the bumpers, the glass, the gaskets, the weather stripping, the door parts, the tailgate parts. . .the only thing I kept debating on doing was the frame. After seeing the powder coated parts, I'll regret not going to the frame every single day I walk to my rig if I don't do it.

I don't have a garage. I'm just learning how to turn wrenches. I just learned was a JIS bolt is and how it's different from others. I'll find a place to rent. I'll take pictures/vids. I'll learn to bleed brakes. I'll learn to dismantle and reassemble.

Now. . .if I can just find a place to rent =)

The frame is one of the first things I addressed. In fact the undercarriage of my 62 is way nicer than the body and interior. I'm kind of obsessed with it since it's the nicest area on my truck. As soon as an area pops up under there I address it. The frame, axles, have been completely painted and if an area pops up I clean and repaint it. I use Satin Black Rustoleum for this purpose. One thing I recommend is coating the frame internally with this. The stuff works great. I think I ordered about 4 to 5 cans. I used the extra to do the inside of the doors and rear quarter panels and even in the rocker panels.

Since I can't afford to do a proper paint job at this time I have gone around and through the body and POR 15'd any rust areas. I have three holes in the body, one on each rear quarter panel and one on the end of the inside drivers door. I prepped those and POR 15'd them two years ago and they are still rust free (technically). My goal was to stop any further rusting until I could get a proper paint job which will of course cost thousands. So far it's worked as the body is essentially rust free, even though as mentioned it has three 1/2 inch holes, the rust is not active. It's sealed. Maybe this approach will work for you until you can afford to do it right. So far it's worked for me.

Perhaps the FJ60 fairy is going to be very nice to me in the VERY near future. . .

Perhaps his niceness will come in 3's. . .

Perhaps after 15 months of project after project. . .maybe the overall picture is starting to come together.

Yes - seriously considered buying that diesel. Won't name names but suffice it to say, a couple of you brought me down from that ledge (crisis intervention defined).

Yes - leaving 1 May - 19 May; getting married to my best friend (the girl version), 4-5 day hike up Machu Picchu, 5 hr MTB downhill, and a few days of R&R before heading back to reality...and a joint account (hmm....).

Yes - found a buyer for the while FJ60 and looking fwd to ruining his, "...oh, about 5-7K in restoration..." ideas, hehe.

Yes and thank you - the silver (future Anvil) 60 is going to be a classic 'WTF; where does it stop' build (much appreciated).
