My info is a couple years old but most rebuilders for the 2UZ wanted you to provide a core engine they could rebuild. The recommended path forward if a new engine is needed is to find a junkyard one.

Best case it is from a vehicle with service history and was totaled by a rear end accident that did not impact the engine compartment.

You don't have what year your truck is, if it's VVTi or not, that can make a difference in finding them. Plenty of folks use Tundra motors, there's a few things you have to swap over from the LC motor, little easier to source.

Be curious to know more about the current engine, got pics of the cylinders and damage?

There are plenty of low mileage (<100k Non-VVTI) used engines out there still. I would go factory built over a rebuilder... unless you were spending $$$ on a custom build.

LX470 2002 80k miles. Have pics, will upload later, may have more scored cylinders.

Bad gas. Pre-detonation. Cylinder damage. Where do I get a reliable builder of re-manufactured engine?

did you go to Mexico?

bad gas in the US is not very common, I've seen water in underground tanks and also seen a two compartment tank leak between the compartments and had diesel in a gas compartment

used 2UZ's are fairly reasonable,
it will be all the extras when swapping the engine that will add up
