need power steering hose

Anyone know where to get a replacement hose either new, used or made for less than the dealer's $363? Its on a 95 2wd, 5spd, 22RE truck of my Dad's and I'd like to fix it for him before I go back to Florida (call it rental fees). And its the line going from the pump, up-over-& down, to the gearbox. Any help is appreciated.

$363, ouch! assume you're talking about the rubber hose, not a pre-bent metal hose.

I think John had a similar problem a couple months ago and we just slapped a piece of 3/16 or 1/4" fuel line on there, been holding ever since.

Is this the hi-pressure or the return line. If it is the return line then, yes, just get some hose of the correct diameter and cut to fit. If it is the hi-pressure line, try Napa.....or you can try a hydraulics shop - they usually will make custom lines for a fraction of the dealer cost.

I assume its the high pressure one cause it sprays fluid across the whole engine bay when you turn sharp. And its a combo hose of both metal and rubber. Seems real pointless too; its about 12" from "hole to hole" but the damn hose has gotta be 30" long and bends around all over the place. So far, all the shops I've called only do big, industrial lines. I'll check out that link though.

These are businesses in the Marietta neck-of-the-woods. There are probably others around, but these are close with good reputations. Friends have taken them lines (hydraulic, power steering, AC, ...) and they will replicate/repair as appropriate. I don't know if it will be cheaper, but it would very hard to be more expensive.

Talk to Joey at B & J Hydraulics. He can cut off your old hose, at the fittings, & either recrimp or possibly build a new line, depending on the fitting style. He is currentlly doing that mod to a lot of my hydro hoses. He's actually welding on 6AN connectors to my fittings. Great prices too

Thanks for making me check win the normal parts places... I don't know why I didn't check them first. Guess I thought they'd only have straight, do-it-yourself hoses. But AutoZone had it in stock and for less than $30! I could kick myself for not calling sooner cause I could've had the time to get it replaced.
