I sure would appreciate it if someone with a factory original Vader light could tell me the dimensions for locating correctly locating the holes. Thank you.

Here’s where mine is, it’s marked ‘dome’ with a red label. It does work. I’m not sure if this is the original position of the switch or if I have the correct switch.
The switch is a long reach for the driver, but it is near the light.

Thanks. That’s where the switch for our dome light located on the B-pillar on our 1970.

This picture looks familiar. :) I'm out tonight however will provide dimension information tomorrow. I used the holes that were already in the dash. Manufacturing date is 10/72.

Believe 72-74 models in the US most had the holes. FST had the light and FHT had a plug. These year also had footman loops on the back corners even FHT models.

Orange is my 73 FST. Blue dash is also a 73 unknown month. It's a FHT.

What was the reason for having the holes without the light? Was it because the light was an option?

The switch moved over to the light in 73. I can measure mine this evening if you still need it.
@Engineer8000 I would really appreciate it. I'm looking for vertical and horizontal center-to-center dimensions for both the switch and the lamp assemblies.
Thank you very much!

Here are the dimensions. Build Date 10/72. Truck was an original Hardtop. No hard points to measure from so I used the locations shown below as reference points. The vertical dimension (3) will vary slightly. Let me know if you need more information.

Below is a mockup using the revised dimensions from post #18. The pencil roughly approximates the hole size which is 22mm. The base of the fixture is approximately 45.21mm. I think that I will probably scooch the light down just a bit as it appears that the base would be tight up against the dash pad.

Here are a couple more pictures.
The housing is close to the dash pad on Louie.

Completion of the Vader Light Installation. It was a bit painful to drill two holes in the dash. 22mm and 13/32":

Wiring was pretty straight-forward. I tapped into the 12v constant from the dome light switch.

Finished result.
