My room mate has a 1996 civic ex. His clutch is gone. Pedal stays on the floor. Anyone know of a good local mechanic that does clutch rebuilds/repairs? Dealership wants to charge him $1700 and he only paid $2100 for the car, so we want to get a second opinion and make sure he doesnt get ripped off. Thanks guys!

Don't know much about Honda's, do they use a hydraulic clutch?

If so, check the master and slave cyl reservoir for fluid. If it's empty, top it off and see if the pedal comes back at all.

If it's not hydraulic, ...nevermind!

Maybe Noah could help you out?

Dan.

Yeah. Its hydraulic. I actually told him the same thing, but he barely knows where the fuel goes, so im not sure the advice will help . I havent spoken to him yet to see if he resolved the problem. I havent had a chance to look at it since I barely have time to work on my rig, let alone his. I didnt see his car out front this morning, so maybe its fixed.

HonTech is expensive.
Check out Frank Honda:
(619) 280-8400
3250 Adams Ave.

My new 96 Civic is currently being worked on.

Yeah. We called HonTech. They seem like good guys that new their stuff, but they quoted him $600 more than the dealer for the same work. He ended up taking it to the dealer because he needed it done quickly. Its done now. Ill keep Frank Honda in mind if he has any more issues.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I Just picked up my beater Honda and it took three flushes to clean out the system but with the new thermostat now the electrical fan is kicking in like it should. And while they were waiting on me to pick it up they cleaned up my dull head light lenses on the house.
