Dude brought us the 70 series... I’d like to own a BJ73.

Seat pads are still quite readily available from Toyota.

Thanks for the heads up. Turns out I had 1 digit in the part number wrong. I was able to get the pads from McGeorge Toyota for $161 a piece.

Just ordered some too. Am interested if they make the drive much better. Based on some previous posts it seems like new foams make a difference.

It will make a difference if you have new covers or old hard leather as well. That said, with new leather and pads, mine made a HUGE difference. It did take about 3k miles to break the new pads in for me, but after that it is now perfect. I am 150 soaking wet though... :flipoff2:

I have Swapped in manual seats in my 94. Obviously form a 80 series but not sure what year. What pads should I be looking for ? @Onur

97 LX here with cloth manual front seats from a mid 90s LC. I am looking for a part number for upper DS foam, only.

Lower manual foam is easily found on McGeorge. But I’m having a hard time sourcing the upper foam. Is the upper pad the same part number for power and manual? Partsouq is tough if I don’t run my actual VIN, which won’t do any good in this case.

This would bee a game-changer for me and my cloth seats. I have already replaced the bottom foam, but the seat back foam being NLA was a real drag. Looking forward to seeing more about how this works out.

Hoping to get it done (at least on one side) this weekend. Long lead is cleaning the fabric and letting it dry. I wish I knew how to sew in some light foam to replace the bits that are attached to the cloth on the back side of the fabric that's degraded.

Need to add three extra holes to the foam to tie in the back side of the front of the fabric and you also need to cut a little off each corner of the bottom of the cushion. Looks like it'll work! I'll make a full video once it's all done (waiting on some extra hog rings).

It may not look impressive but it's a solution to the NLA manual seat back cushion problem.

Video with the full story (including previous parts 1 and 2) will be up soon:

Looks good! I have just finished reconstructing a torn cloth driver's seat base for my 80, using fabric from a passenger seat and a new foam pad. Looks factory, but I haven't done anything about the seat back yet. I'll have to take a look at your technique, a new foam backing for the seat would be really nice.

And the part for the power seat back cushion is "only" ~$100. About half as extensive as the bottom cushions.

As anyone confirmed the foam from the leather option wont work for cloth?

Disregard I think the video covered it.

Please be more specific. As far as I know, the only seat combinations from the factory for the US market are power leather and manual cloth. Early 91-94 might have had some leather tossed on cloth manual seats by the dealer, but in essence there's just two types of seats from the factory (cloth manual and power leather).

You comment seems to indicate that there is a "leather option" besides what I've just demonstrated. And to restate, I've demonstrated that the back cushion for a power leather seat can be installed into a manual cloth seat (with a couple minor modifications to the cushion foam).

Yes thank you for the clarification and I had updated my response after watching the video. I was hoping that the underlying foam was the same between the two.

So after an hour searching it appears LCH is the only place to buy the bottom foam for power seats. Does anyone else have a source?

For those that have the LCH foam, is it holding up?

Thanks

EDIT: I just ordered new foam bottoms and back for elec seats from Toyota.

The video's now private -- but it looks like you were able to modify the foams from a leather/electric seat (upper back and bottom cushion) to work with cloth/manual seats?
