a customer calls me from the interstate, asks if he can have his rig towed to my place. He was doing about 55mph, heard a loud bang and vibration. Opened the hood, fearing the worst, and found this. He is extremely lucky as it didn't take out the radiator as others have experienced.

Mark A has said in the past, it's not if but when this will happen.

All with metal fans should replace them. You can see in the middle pic, it has been broke for awhile as it is half rusty, then a clean break in the other half. A replacement fan and another shroud and he'll be good to go.

Especially since it’s been broken for a while.
 
He got extremely lucky with that one, remove that fan and send him home, we don’t need a cooling fan right now!
