Conferr-style auxiliary fuel tank for an fj40. Fits under the rear and let's you get rid of the under-seat fuel tank if desired. Purchased new, unused.

$450 OBO plus the ride.

That's one of my nylon fuel cells, includes top aluminum plates for sender and plumbing (not shown). It' does not have baffles, but you could use fuel cell foam bricks, I believe it takes about 11 foam bricks. If you use the bricks, then you'd want one of the Centroid electronic sending units, not a float on a swing arm that won't float through the foam.
Gee Whiz information: laboratory tested stronger than a steel tank, no welded seams, won't rust, 22 gallons of long range wonderfulness- - -easy deal.

Tank is roughly 30" wide by 18" long by 12" high, but only 10" high on the front edge at the sending unit mounting area. Send me your email address and I will send photos mounted. Tank actually takes up all the space between rear shock mounting tubular crossmember and rear frame crossmember.

Solidrock171, your deal just became seriously awesome since my fuel cell molding company is closed for duration of epidemic, and I'm out of tanks.

Can you connect the tank under seat of 1973 fj40 to the auxiliary tank or visa versa?

Yes. Buy a solenoid and simple toggle switch. Gas lines for the Aux tank run up to the fuel filter area under the hood, and wire the switch into the cab. I mounted the solenoid near the fuel filter under hood. Added a fuel filter for the rear tank also. The switch ties into your stock gauge so you can see both tank levels. Mine is an older confer tank.

Actually the tank comes with an instruction manual that shows how to hook up plumbing as rear tank only, both thanks non smog legally, and both tanks with full evapo hook up. Both tanks non smog legally is what you'd be most happy with, that way you can completely drain one tank or the other, and always know how much gas is in either tank (which is not the case when plumbing into the evapo system).

I have been kicking around the idea of a rear mounted fuel cell to my 69 for some time now. I've tinkered on stuff in the past but most all changes have been straight forward kits. My concern is adding a hole in the body for a filler neck.

Can a rear auxiliary fuel tank be added to a FJ40, be used as expected, and not require a second filler neck hole in the body?

My theory was to increase size of the exit side of stock tank for gravity drain/feed into rear auxiliary. Install a one way check valve between stock and auxiliary. Stock tank would have the return line. Rear Auxiliary would have the fuel gauge. I'm not exactly sure how the vent the rear tank be it stand alone vent or tied into stock vent.

Thoughts, Please.
