I actually just bought the HVAC controls for my 2005 from Chuck & Eddies (car-part.com) for $250 shipped. Will be shipped out tomorrow. Will be installing the Joying Android HU for $460 after adding options.

I called a few places and he was the cheapest, answered the phone quickly, and immediately sent the invoice for it. Excited to get this going and remove the old old PX6 unit currently in there.

A&T Auto Salvage also and said the cost was $250 before shipping/any tax.

The HVAC controls and bezel arrived, but no brackets. What are people doing in this situation? Will it mount to the Nav brackets?

Edit: Should've searched. Answer is in this thread with part numbers. Will look into those for good prices. At least they seam cheap

Anybody know if the HVAC individual buttons can come off and swapped? I got a unit with 2 faded buttons and want to switch them out. The rest are fine. Just the caps

I was looking and found them for sale online from one of the Lexus dealers.

Some support person from Grom just had me install some firmware on my vline2 that bricked it before our thanksgiving drive after the last OTA update screwed up the colors on the screen. I think I’ll finally bite the bullet and do a non-nav conversion. Anyone selling 2004 gx 470 compatible non-nav units, or recommend a seller who is?

Car-parts.com

Got mine for the he 05 for $250, shipped.

24/7 spares also has a number of 03-04 units listed, complete with all install parts. At least you have that year of GX - finding a 2006+ set of controls is needle-in-a-haystack. I ordered what appeared to be 1 of 1 in the US on Car-Part.com and am crossing my fingers it's not clapped out.

I've been watching this thread, as I find it interesting. However, now I've got a question that I'm hoping someone here might be able to answer: I have an '04 non-nav, and the tabs inside the bezel around the HVAC have broken. Since 55412-60270 (the one purportedly for my truck) is discontinued, does anyone know why a 55412-60260 won't work? If you look at the parts on a Lexus parts diagram, they appear to be identical. Granted, there must be some difference, but I can't seem to determine what it is. Thanks.

Shows different bezels. Looks like the Non Nav is two piece where the Nav is one piece. Although I'd need to dig out my Nav bezel from storage to confirm, I believe the Nav version lacks space for the HVAC LCD screen since it displays on the main screen instead.

Edit: To add, when you look at the actual image of a Nav bezel, you see the tape deck (bottom), HVAC controls (middle), and HU screen (top). No place for the HVAC LCD Screen

Yeah, I've seen so many different photos and diagrams, I just couldn't make sense of any of it. For instance, the two images below are from Bell Lexus' website. Different part numbers with identical illustrations. I even asked Grok, and it gave me erroneous information. I figure that if "someone" with access to (basically) all human knowledge gets confused about this part, it's OK for me to be confused also! HAHA!

Thanks for the response @M3GX.

Hey guys. My GX was born as a navigation unit, but I converted it to NAV back. Everything went pretty smooth, and I installed a joying unit – the new 9 inch with the volume knob. Overall, it’s pretty great. The only problem I’ve run into is that the head unit will not recognize the can bus. I’ve pulled the thing apart several times trying to figure out why, and I’m having a hard time understanding things. My suspicion is that the can bus wires are coming from the harnesses that were extended over by the Mark Levinson amplifier, but if anybody knows definitively I’d be interested to hear it. I can’t find those little suckers anywhere. Without that can bus communication, I am fairly confident my radio isn’t communicating with the ML amplifier and processing the sound correctly. Basically it’s sitting in stereo mode as the default. Also, because of the lack of connection with the can bus, I cannot use the steering wheel controls.

Also, I am assuming that I am supposed to be plugging the can bus in and out harnesses together in the back of the joining radio, but if that’s incorrect, I’d love to hear about that too. 😂

Lots of questions. Also, just to be clear, my radio did not come with an instruction manual to go with the wiring harnesses et al. I can usually figure these type of things out, but this one’s got me scratching my head.

Tia.

Edits: I bought the joying can bus decoder with the unit, so that’s not the problem. All of the harnesses are seated to the best of my knowledge.

Does the Hu recognize that it's a Lexus? You might need to go into the settings to check. There should be a setting that requires a code to unlock, which you can Google and usually find a forum that has them listed. Joying hardware itself is universal so that could be the cause.

Here's a long thread on the Joying for the Tacoma, but a lot of the issues should apply to Lexus also

Yeah, it shows as unknown. I’ve tried looking and programming (code 8888), and no dice. It’s just not getting signal. When you do the conversion, where does the CANBUS feed in?

None of the interface looks like this at all. Everything is much more cryptic, and I’ll have to take a video to show what it looks like. For example, I can’t choose a car manufacturer… Just a bunch of weird protocols like, Ruiz Chang, vehicle information, radar, volume, open door alarm sound, reversing panorama related, toggles, vehicle, personalization with toggles for air conditioner, driver position, air conditioner control float button, et… this is the same place the root menu also says “unknown”. Nothing that’d allow me to say it’s for a Lexus. (Dictated)

There should be different codes that unlock different settings. But I haven't installed on my Lexus yet so not sure how much help I can be.

Snagged mine too. I'll be re-using all of the accessories from my PX6 so mine came in $376 shipped. Can't get here fast enough either as the tinny base and glacial boot speeds of my GX470 are a continuing source of frustration.
