Snagged mine too. I'll be re-using all of the accessories from my PX6 so mine came in $376 shipped. Can't get here fast enough either as the tinny base and glacial boot speeds of my GX470 are a continuing source of frustration.
Y’all know what the latest firmware is on these units? I think I want to update my software and or firmware.

A couple quick questions/updates:

1) I was able to maneuver my way around in settings and set the car up as “raise<Pardo(AMP/rear). Although I would consider this progress since I was getting readings come in from the canbus, it locked the volume at either very low, or maximum. If I turned it up to volume one from zero, it would go all the way up. Conversely, if I was stuck in low sound mode, it would keep the volume the same, no matter how high I turned it and it was low.

2) I was able to overcome this by switching the canbus back to null<null. This allowed me to change the volume settings. However, the volume is still lower than I would like, and given it’s not communicating with the canned bus, it’s not sending the correct signal to the Mark Levinson amplifier to process the sound and limit frequencies two things like the subwoofer. Essentially, I believe it’s in stereo mode. Is it better? Sure, it’s not on maximum volume. But it’s definitely not great like it should be.

Questions:

1) what model did yall use to define the GX under change model? There are raise, chengruiz, hiworld, oudi, baoshiejie, etc… the one I set was clearly wrong. I’m on software platform android 13. 8gb ram, 128gb rom. I just want that can bus working.

2) is there any way to change the main screen? The e screen is just terrible. My brother had an older version that was way more visually appealing. If I change the software, will that allow me to customize it a bit more?

Thanks.

Mine won't be installed for another month or so, unfortunately. If you are having that many problems with yours, I would send it back. You could have gotten a bad one out of the box.

Check with Joying support. They are usually pretty helpful with these types of questions! It's the main reason I go with Joying over the other Android head units.

Link to the firmware page: https://www.joyingauto.com/blog/category/updated-files-released/

I use the Agama car launcher in the JK. Much better than the stock Joying launcher: AGAMA Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=altergames.carlauncher&pcampaignid=web_share

Car Launcher Pro is another I've used in the past: car launcher pro - Android Apps on Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/search?q=car%20launcher%20pro&c=apps&hl=en_US

It will probably be a month or so before I get mine installed so can't really answer specific questions on the Joying for GX470 just yet.

@erkelbot Joying sent me this email for my order with instructions to make sure this is switched to KEY instead of CAN. May be your issue(?)

Did you get an email that said your order would ship from their Chinese warehouse? I got two that said the Accessories I ordered would be, but not sure if one of those was for the main unit. Will be interesting with all the tariffs. At work we've had a lot of issues with shipments incoming to the US through UPS.

It arrived yesterday, surprisingly. I would presume it is accessory-related as I must have nabbed mine after you grabbed yours. Still need to unbox it and go through it.

FYI you might be able to nab the accessories cheaper on Amazon. The cameras are probably normal RCA-style jacks, and just about any OBD2 dongle should work with it.

I need some help.

I Installed a joying after nav conversion last year. Prior to that I replaced the broken sub. Hadn’t noticed til now but new sub is not working. Was working with original nav unit. I think it has to do with the joying wiring. Possibly ML amp is not getting signal to turn on.

Anyone with this issue? I have searched and searched. Found a post on a FJ forum that the joying amp connect wire orange/black needs to connect with a blue wire for 12v.

2008 Factory Subwoofer not working with Joying Headunit - https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/threads/2008-factory-subwoofer-not-working-with-joying-headunit.762406/#lg=thread-762406&slide=6

I have found the orange black from the joying harness. In fact when I follow it, it leads to a connector with no corresponding wiring on the other side.
Here it is the thing that says jy-Prado so that seems significant.
IMG_8113.webp

Here it is the 3rd slot from the top left. Orange.
IMG_8114.webp

The corresponding connector there is no wire. 3rd slot between green and pink

So if I can just find where to connect this orange and black wire to signal my amp to turn on maybe I can get my sub to work. Maybe my sound would be better? Still sounds good without the sub.

Any thoughts, comments, or hallucinations would help. I have reached out to joying and the translation barrier has not been the smoothest.

In the guide it calls for splicing into pin number 27 wire (white/green) but in my A15 connector there is a red/black wire in thay spot? Has anyone else found this?

Starting on the swap while the dash is out. HVAC controls tested good! Only issue I'm seeing is the blend door motor for the outside/recirculating air is pretty sluggish. Really don't want to mess with that but I guess I should research it while I'm in here.

I replaced all 4 HVAC servos when I did my dash. One of them was definitely making some noise, so I figured I would get ahead of it. Even with the dash off a couple were a pain to get to.

Did you get this sorted? I've got the Joying installed now and running into the same canbus settings issue. Also the backup camera isn't coming on when put in reverse. I can see it if I go to the AR Camera app though

Uh oh - going to be starting on mine tomorrow. Guessing I'll have these issues too, but crossing my fingers I won't. Let me know what you all figure out with yours.

I sent joying an email and asked. The can settings you can swap between mostly effect how loud the speakers are. But there are several different options for Prado 120.

From what I can find about reverse, you have to tap the reverse wire to trigger it. Though instructions say if you have a canbus decoder, you shouldn't need to. The reverse signal is a red wire /w black line. On the driver's side of the lower center console. That group of wires with the 10mm bolt holding the bundle in. I'm gonna wait to hear what joying says before doing that.

Otherwise everything appears to be better hardware than the Joying in my Jeep. The main unit itself is beefier. The 4G antennas are larger. GPS works better.

I'm testing locations for the antennas, but for now I have one antenna sitting on top of passenger side defrost vent, and the other on top of the instrument cluster. It says to run them by the a-pillar but also says not to have metal above it. I test it before pulling the backing off to stick it down

I think I already have a hot reverse wire trigger from the PX6 install. If not, I'll tap the driver's kick panel wire.

Please post with which CANBUS setting you end up going with. Part of the impetus for the Joying upgrade for me is that my ML system with the PX6 suddenly lost all of it's bass a couple of months ago. I'm not sure if this is due to a problem with the ML amp, the sub being blown, or the PX6 having a hardware/software issue (I'm betting it's the latter). I have two new front speakers and a new Skar sub to install as well as I'm pretty sure the foam surrounds have been at least partially gone for a few years. I'm going to start with the Joying, then work my way down to the speakers.

Got lucky, my speakers worked perfectly upon initial install, without messing with CANBUS settings. I'm wondering if maybe you guys got the wrong CANBUS decoders, possibly for a non-nav GX? Let me know if there is any info on the specific settings you guys need. If so I'll look it up and take a pic of the Joying screen within that menu.

So the Canbus was set to Null when I first got it. And that is what Joying support said to leave it at. The GX470 is older than the other two vehicles I've installed a Joying in, so maybe the newer ones have a specific Canbus to use isntead.

Did your backup camera work without a trigger wire? They asked me for clarification on that issue and I'm awaiting a reply.

Ugh...just saw Joying has a newer "high-end" radio. I would have ordered this had I saw it (if it was even available a few weeks ago)!

Higher resolution screen.
Newer Processor.
12GB/256GB RAM/ROM by default.
Supports 5G Cell signal.
HDMI In & Out
USB-C
No buttons for a cleaner look (which i prefer).

I've asked Joying about exchanging. We'll see how that goes. Even if they won't exchange, I'll likely end up ordering this and selling the "old" version.

My Canbus is set to null-null. I am using a trigger wire for the backup camera, which the PO had installed for my PX6. I think it's actually tied into the rear reverse lights at the back of the rig but I don't totally recall. My camera is wired with a RCA cable that has a red power wire included.

Also I have the older Joying unit with the volume knob, rather than the newer one you posted.

Did you hook up the white and red RCA cables? They go from the Joying harness into the back of the Joying. Perhaps it's why the amp is not working. If those are hooked up right I'm betting you have a bad unit or another problem as these should be plug-and-play.
