I ordered a new set of injectors as mine were crumbling. I am going to send the cold start injector off though. Unfortunately I won't be able to button this engine up as I leave Thursday for work for two weeks. That being said I'm gonna get as far as I can with it.

Injectors or injector plugs?

Well my last day push yielded nothing. Parts I ordered ended up being wrong (didn't speak with usual parts guy dang it!). Head was to be done this morning. Wasn't done till 4:50 this afternoon. Ordered two plugs for injectors and sent off all the injectors to be cleaned and rebuilt. Only good news is that I was told my head is in excellent shape. But I won't be able to work on my 4runner for another two weeks (I'll be out of the country). Pulled the trigger on a LCE header also.

Well I'm finally back in town. Atlantis got some of my money but that is to be expected. They don't make money off winners. Haha. Got most of my parts in so I hope to get this thing buttoned up or at least close to being finished. I had the manifold and valve cover powder coated. I have some little touches I'm going to be doing to them which I'll show at the end. Injectors came back with a good report card. LCE header and misc parts arrived. I thought it would be chrome but it's not. I might send it off to be done or just live with it for now. I have a little more work to do to the block then I'll start reassembly. I'm gonna have some questions along the way so please be patient with me.

Chrome and heat aren't very good friends. If is ceramic coated it will hold the heat at bay and will stay durable much longer than chrome.

The intake and valve cover look awesome BTW.

Thanks guys. Headers are not going to be hot coated or what ever it's called. Today was a bad day. My rental unit is covered in mold and needs a $10,000 remodel. Is what it is. Also realized that when I tore down the timing chain cover I miss matched all the bolts and now I can't find them or put them in the wrong bags or...son of a...so frustrating day. Also I'm leaving a day early for work. Pics are just showing mock up. Nothing is torqued. Nothing really done but cussing. Vent over.

Ok so I have a better attitude today. I have brand new timing cover bolts and a guide where they go. Here is what I'm planning with the valve cover and manifold. Gonna try and make another big push tomorrow.

Edit: Know push again. Meeting all morning and tornado watches with winds up to 70 mph equals no work in the carport! Haha...

Roger on the headers. But have a question about what sealants (color RTV) to use and where? I have been researching but just want to be sure. Thanks in advance.

I normally just spray the exhaust gasket with Copper Coat gasket compound and bolt up the manifold to it. It comes in a spray can. . Others may suggest something better but I've had good results using it.

Any recommendations on what to use on the one water pump bolt?

Use OEM Toyota gaskets, from what I recall the only sealant ever used on a 22RE engine is on the oil pans that so not use a gasket, that being said Toyota sells a real good Form In Place gasket (FIPG) RTV, any Toyota parts counter should have it...it should be about $14.00, it's woks great...it's the only RTV I use on my 22RE

I would like to thank Sears for sending me a torque wrench that literally fell apart as I took it out of its container! Delayed once again. I would take a pic but left my phone on the boat.

Finally got my phone back today. Yay! Thought I'd take some progress shots. I have to take a pic of the timing mark on the cam gear just to verify its correct. That will be tomorrow or Monday. I would have love to have some more pieces painted or powder coated but I need to get this thing back on the road ASAP. On with the pics... Sent from the islands.

Dimple and bright link up and at 0*, you should be at TDC. Let me double check the FSM for a little reassurance, but I am pretty sure you are good to go.

The Toyota Factory Service Manual (FSM) is your best friend during this process.

From what I remember it looks right, but really you should verify based off of what the FSM says.

Coming together very slowly. Leave tomorrow for about three weeks so that's how she's gonna sit till I get back.
