Hi guys been on here awhile with my fj60. Today I bought a 79 2wd toyota pickup. It wont star and dosnt have spark at the plug but it dose at the coil wire in to the cap. tomorrow Im going to replace the cap and rotor. Is there anything else I should check? Also Dose anyone where I can download a pdf file of the service manual for my truck? Ill post pics of it tomorrow. Cat wait to drive it!!

Fsm can be found a ttora faq pretty easy.

You have spark at the coil but not the plugs? Is your coil-dist wire good? Start with that, then pull the cap and see if the rotor is in working condition. While the caps off, have a helper crank the engine and make sure the rotor is turning (checking to make sure the timing chain is still intact and working.)

From there it gets a little more complicated.

Well she runs! It was the rotor, it was rounding out to the distributor. Here is some pics of it. Still need to clean it.

Okay now its time to start to do some more maintenance. Idk if i need a carb rebuild or not. When I try to start it I usually have to hold the gas almost wide open. When the the motor is cold it has a really rough idle and when you try to hold the gas pedal at a certain speed the truck starts to surge. But when the motor is at operating temp it has a high idle (dont know the rpm cuz tac dosent work). the fuel filter has bee replace and air filter has. dose anyone have any suggestions?
