hello all
A neighbor an old truck been sitting in yard for a while so he let it go and I picked it up today
Doesn’t run but I haven’t tried yet
Rusted tailgate. But body panels are fine.

It’s a 1994 pickup 4x4
In-line 4 (2.4 liter i think) EFI it says
5 speed
Regular cab

I know nothing of these trucks
The manual just calls it a pickup but others call it a Tacoma. I read about a Hilux. Which is this?

Any insight would be helpful. I know nothing about these.

My first step is take out old gas and fluids.
And go through the truck.

If I knew how to post pics I would

It's called a pickup in the states. Tacoma is after 95.5

T100 is slightly larger

You have a pretty robust drivetrain, used in pickups and 4 runners for about 10 years, and there are quite a few forums dedicated to them...this one, yotatech (tons of great info there), marlincrawler, and others I can't remember at the moment. Most, if not all, 22re problems have been solved and are documented on the net.

what are the plans?

If it were mine I would check all the fluids for level and contamination, turn it over my hand with the distributor cap off to make sure nothing is going clunk and that the timing chain is in place, put some fresh gas in it and see what happens.

Yes thank you. I’d like to get that old gas out of there first.

I don’t have any plans for the truck yet except replace the tailgate, it’s rusted out.
I am hoping 4WD works

Yeah, Toyota was real... imaginative? when they named some of their vehicles in the last couple of decades. Truck... oh and don't forget the Toyota Van. Because it's a... Van. I'm kinda surprised the Camry wasn't named "Car" or "Sedan".

I will argue that any Toyota mini-truck younger than 1988 is a Hilux. Same truck as over-seas. This is especially true for the Gen 1 trucks (1979-1983). Though, technically, Toyota just calls them all "Trucks."

I am missing a starter, haha.

You are missing the starter????!! Dude, that is the funniest thing I've ever seen posted at MUD.
