Interesting that your bed was swapped out for a later model.
Did they delete the under-seat gas tank, and does the under-bed tank occupy the spot where the spare tire usually lives, or is it more forward of that position?
yes later model bed and actually the upper cab portion also appears to be from a 73+ year truck. aftermarket extended tank is between the frame rails where the tire carrier goes no tank under ps seat actually it does not have a ps seat. The extended tank does not fit real well and will be pulled and sold. I dont think the tank has ever had fuel in it as the lines have never been attached. I have an S-10 tank to put in as it will fit much better. Also have a new frame for this truck. I hope to get started this spring and will post up lots of pics and have lots of questions.
Chuck I guess this means you are ready to apply your great welding and body work skills to my project. Thanks in advance for volunteering to work on my truck. Oh wait you didn't volunteer
That's sweet and a good price too. What are you going to coat it with? I was hoping to see your rig finished in person when I went to pick up my rig(that green FJ40 in the background getting the new tub and some mechanical work done is my trail rig) oh well, looks good.

Probably have it professionally bed lined. I saw your truck when I was out there. Wally did a nice job on it. I am very happy with the work he did on mine and would send anyone to him.
I see you have the same tailgate latches as landpimp. Tales two hands to latch them, but thy're much stronger, all toyota, and very readily available. Gonna put 'em on this one too.
My rear panel below the tailgate was replaced with a piece of 1/8... I was gonna cut in the oval type rubber grommeted tail lights like your round ones. What I'm wondering is do you have directionals on that truck? I thought toyotas needed separate lights for them. I have had a lot of misery with trying to wire them like a 'normal' american vehicle....You can see in the photo that the po installed surface mounted trailer type lights and when he went to open the tailgate, it wouldn't open all the way.. No problem... we'll just grab the torch and burn half way through a structural rib in an already flimsy tailgate. Oh, and lets get rid of that middle hinge, so's we can center the license plate......If I need to install two flush lights per side, I will, but if there's a way to wire it with regular dual filament lights, I'd like some info. Awesome bed, btw. I'm very envious of how solid it is. Would it be more appropriate to start a thread in the tech section on tail light wiring? Still learning the protocol. Is this what you guys call 'hijacking'?
The directionals do work. It was wired using a trailer harness. We went this route because where they would normally go is actually now a structrual piece of steel. I am eventually going to get rid of the current light and use early 40 lights with the bracket that attaches them to the rear crossmember....... No worries on the hijack
Mine is set up a little different. My bed us shorter than factory and doens't extend past the rear crossmember like a normal lpb. This crossmember isn't visible on your truck. I would look into original tail lights for your truck. Thats what I would have liked but couldn't.
