hello

Name: Alan
From: El Paso
info: First Pig

Just picked up my first 4x4, pig, SUV ever and I am stoked. I got her for less than a $1000 so I am really excited.

so there she is:D

I just need a chevy 350 but the guy told me that i needed to do a spring over axle?... so my question is he stated that i didnt need to buy parts just flip the springs over the axle and tighten the clamp. I look on here and see that I might need to buy parts???? So community, please guide me as I am a peon.

He states that the oil pan will hit at it stock height on the axle????

I look forward to my time here and I cant wait to drive my pig.

Thanks:cheers:

Alan

Hi Alan,

Welcome aboard. Like Bob, I spied the VW first! Nice.

Now, on to the pig, you need to tell us some more about it and what you want to do. Do you want to go with the chevy motor and that automatic transmission or back to stock Toyota.

What year is it and what's your all round plans for it? It looks pretty darn good, but it's going to take some money, to get it going.

thank you

thanks for the welcome...

I just want to get her running cuz im itching to drive her. I will be putting an engine in 2 weeks but I have both a chevy and the toyota 3 speed with the adapter for the 350.

I was looking at a this for the engine to try and get me some clearance with the oil pan.

It was running 6 months ago with a 350.....i just want a daily driver that can handle the elements.

So what you guys think??

And thank you for any and all advise.

That oilpan you posted, is for a big block chevy, wouldn't work for you, unless that's what you're thinking of putting in there.

How were they running the 350 in it, without the SUA. if it was working that way, just repeat what they had in it.

Pablo is right, there's alot of good reading in the forums.

Slight lift cured my oil pan blues. Believe there are also some small block pans that will offer additional clearance...do a search. Putting add a leafs from Man a Fre and 1" longer shackles all around lifted mine 3' and solved all clearance issues with minimal expense and some labor. Only additional expense was longer shocks. Still much less expensive than any of the lift kits and certainly less expensive/better handling/less work than going spring over.

for the gears, use the toy 3 speed and case with the adapter. if you decide you must go to a chevy trans, you'll need to adapt that to the toy tcase or work out the diff input to swapped case output scenario. the toy cases are tough enough FWIU...

edit: hit up orangefj45 for a Tcase brace kit...

this actually sounds like a plan....thanks for all the advice..

I am currently thinking of a 350 carb.....its brand new...any thoughts?

I know I ask a lot of questions but I can think of no other people i would rather ask, you all seem so cool.
