yeah the swings has gas shocks. and they swing out nice. and yes one hand operation. from the inside looking in the rear view, you can still see back there. some carriers i seen blocks the view.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I thought you were somehow saying you could still open the window hatch. Good to hear about the swingouts.

yeah only thing i have to open the right swing to open the top hatch. im sure its possible but the tire will sit out way too far

Looks good!
Curious as to what made you change your mind on the dissent bumper? Was it the wait for the dissent bumper or something els?
Either way mike is a great guy that builds a great bumper.

hi Ben. really came down to timing. i needed a rear bumper for added protection for the trails we are going to. my rear bumper took a nice beating at miller jeep trail.

so my buddy help me take on the project of installing rear factory e locker from a 98 on my 2000 land cruiser. we purchased a donor car for the third member. found out the front end collision bent tweaked the third member. the original housing had to be trim it for the locker to fit. part needed from the the donor. rear locker, right axle, wiring from the donor(where the locker plug in), the locker control box and the switch atrac version at least the 2000 still have wire loom in the dash . couple bolts from the third member cause the bolts are longer on the locker side the right axle was needed cause it has more spline for the locker. the atrac right axle spline was short. got new seals and gaskets for the rear end. also saw the upper rear links bushing were torn so i installed metaltech 4x4 adjustable ones. to engage the locker its like the 98 low gear center diff lock and then locker switch. grease all the driveline. need to go find time to test the locker hope this helps some people who are thinking about doing this. it is doable

miyaki motorsport and silverstar in el monte. silverstar did the locker install and miyaki does most of the maintenance if i don't have time to do it.

i went to frontrunners sale couple weeks ago and found me a nice little flat rack for my 100. and looked at some mounts. was going to go with gamiviti mounts, but my buddy said they felt a bit flimsy. i remembered jason @reevesci from trail tailer on here. i sent him a quick message at 10pm at night and got a response almost immediately. he had them in stock and bare metal. after receiving the mounts, check them out they are much thicker. the gamiviti angles in toward the center of the car and the trail tailer mounts goes straight up. went to my favorite store to get more hex head screws, washers, and nuts. i test fitted the mounts and drilled the holes necessary to fit. sent the mount to powder coat 2 days before christmas and got them back last night. i was very excited to get the rack installed and also it is going to rain in los angeles. ( thats another story) here it is.

this morning when i was driving to work, i wanted to see if i get any wind noise. moving along 60 mph, i got close to not hearing any wind noise. i am very happy with the mounts from jason and the rack from frontrunner

i could not find @benc bumper thread so if anyone is in doubt the dissent bumper is strong enough for the trails. this video shows how tough it is. this is in big bear suppose to be a very easy trail called gold mountain. even with atrac and rear lockers. i have a 4runner and a lc80 tugging eventually we stacks some rocks in the rear and bumped her up

Wow! That's quite the pull. Looks like both rigs were getting pulled down. That's probably one of the hardest pulls the dissent bumper has seen so far.

Ok, so I just watched a few of the videos from this Gold mountain you guys just did and have one question: how much air did you have in the tires? I looks you got hung up quite a bit and seams to be too much air left! Drop those to 15 and should be fine!

Beautiful build man, definitely not low budget as your name says haha I'm local as well and just started building my 99 LC, hope to see you on the trails sometime!

I also have a 2000 (white) and you've done everything I have planned. Looks good - and I look forward to building a twin on the east coast.

Getting the OME lift and BFGs this week. Looking at bumpers now - and will also check into those skids and sliders.
