I started building a front bumper for my friends mini truck. Its not done yet, its going to get a hoop and the ends by the wheel openings will be tied into the frame for max strength. I'll post more pictures up in the next couple days as I make more progress.

well thats good! damn you must be special, i didnt know NY would issue a guy licence plates with no numbers! :flipoff2:
Yeah who knew...those New Yorkers are damn crafty :hillbilly:

Bumper looks sweet so far. Very clean. Will be watching for more pics as you make progress.

Thanks, probably going to work on it more tomorrow or Friday.

Bumper is looking pretty good. What winch plate did you use to build off of? I copied the TG winch plate to build my bumper off of but gave myself a little more room from the grill. The winch is a very tight fit. Post some more pic when you get a chance. Thanks.

Looks exactly like a Trail Gear winch plate

Good job on the bumper :wrench:

Yup it is, if all goes well I'll probably make my own plate in CAD and have a local waterjet shop cut and bend it.

Thanks for all the good words!

Hijack: Question, my son are thinking of building front/rear custom bumpers. (He is just about to get his license)... Friend of mine tells me I am setting myself up for a lawsuit if my son gets into a wreck and hurts someone with some beefy homemade bumpers. Any truth in that? we are in Texas...

Tia,

Well, my first instinct says that doesn't make any logical sense, but hey.... stupider things have happened in a courtroom:

Makers Of Louisville Slugger Ordered To Pay $850K - Cincinnati breaking news, weather radar, traffic from 9News | Channel 9 WCPO.com

I think it depends on how crazy you get with the design. A simple but effective, strong design like an ARB is no problem. But if you've got some stupidly huge hoop sticking way out... you're kinda asking for it.

What does KIA stand for? Killed In an Accident? No KIA's in this family... Toyota's rule!!! :grinpimp:

I dont want anything crazy, I do have about 40' of 5" round pipe I wanted to use, I want to keep it simple.

TIA,

Finished it up for the most part today, still a couple braces I want to build just so its extremely strong, but this is definantly a large step up from the stock tin foil.

An example of what may be a little over done.
