My two older kids and I went up to Big Bear this weekend to run a few trails with some friends of mine. We camped in Holcolm Valley and ended up doing John Bull, Gold Mountain, White Mountain and The Deep Creek trail in Dishpan Springs. We ran all the trails in both directions and being the first time up there for some 4 wheelin', all I can say is what an adrenaline rush. These trails were challenging but fun. I finally got a chance to really use my rock sliders but they were not the only things to get abused by all the rocks. The front diff, muffler, rersonator, rear bumper, body cladding, front and rear control arms, and more all got their turn tagging the rocks. Here are a few pics of the weekend action.

Sweet pics! Can't wait to get out there with you guys! Still 80-leas :( Soon! Soon!

Yes, there is some "camera" lean in some of the photos but if you look at the last one, my spotter is verticle so that one is accurate. The one going down, if you look at the trees, you can tell the photo is exaggerated :flipoff2:. And yes, that section of trail on dishpan springs had the most pucker factor, both going up and down in that very spot. My daughter actually got that section on video in the last pic. In the video, when the cruiser leans over, I throw my hand out of the window real fast to brace myself......bad reaction . I instantly realized that is NOT the thing to do if going over. I'll just grip the wheel tighter next time. Oh, and 5 minutes before we arrived at that spot, a ford ranger had just flipped and rolled twice. Some guys watching caught it on video and said they would polst on youtube. I saw it on his camera. They were able to winch it over and the guy drove on..........with serious damage of course.

Nice pics - You hit some fun trails. I'm sure you have a new appreciation of the 80s capability if this was your first time through. I was just up there the week before Forest Fest and it appears that the Gatekeeper on John Bull has already been modified. It looks as if some of the obstacles have either been filled in or had rocks stacked. Was there any evidence of this when you went through? I was thinking that the Forest Fest crew may have modified the entrance in order to get all of those rigs through in a timely manner. It was the hardest I had seen it in a few years when I went through. I think I have pics somewhere...
