Been working around some very ridiculous circumstances but as of July 4th weekend, I'm off to Death Valley to pick up my 1969 FJ55. Been a long struggle but I think this one was meant for me. Headed out with a couple of friends and we're road tripping to get it. Camping in the desert and everything. Pics to come

P.S. - it's been sitting for about 10-15 years and in pieces. The last owner pulled it apart, rebuilt the engine and then died. Its the original owner and it's been sitting in one of the driest areas of the country so I have high hopes regarding body conditions. It'll be rough but I can't wait to start the project.

P.P.S. - Where is a good place to find parts for the FJ55? Everything I've found is either for the FJ40/45 or FJ60

Parts for the 55 are hard to come by, esp the weatherstrip.

Ready for pics.....
Honestly weather stripping and gaskets, basically anything rubber or paper is going to need replaced lol. But I might have sourced that. It's other parts like bumpers and suspension I have difficulty finding

Well, if if you source weather stripping, or what ever you do for weather stripping, make sure to let us know.

As for the suspension, Cruiser Outfitters has put together an Old Man Emu suspension lift (2" or so) for the 55. It's not 100% bolt on, but is very close.
Spectre off-road has weather stripping for all the glass in the fj55. From what I've found at least

I had a great rear bumper made by Bump It Offroad, local to me. You can see details in my build thread.

Good talking with you Derek.

A full pen of great people here. Let me know if you need anything else.

Jason

BTW, rumor has it that Jason will be cooking up some cool Pig bumpers as well. Front and rear I believe...

Orly? I did find a rear bumper with options for a spare tire and Jerry can/cooler storage. Started round about $600 from ironpigoffroad.com. But I'm still exploring options

Iron pig is more of a builders rig, than something you fix up and drive. sourcing the parts is a right of passage around here. with alot of reading, you'll find where the parts are or how to go about building them. The suspension parts are all going to be custom or you will end up modding stuff to work with other vehicle components. Bobm is where you go for sheetmetal, you've found Slocruisers and Specter and Cruiser Outfitters. Reevesi is the armour guy, Midgainc is the door hinge guy...welcome to the sty...rear up on your F engine in the 40 series forum...

I'm definitely doing a resto/mod. The interior in would really like to have as oe as possible. Exterior, restore most parts and build a beast 4x4 rig. I like this build, not the color but everything else is my goal

Welcome. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of condition your desert pig is in. There are going to be a lot of parts that may start to irritate you if you can't find exactly what your looking for but they are so fun to search for it's like playing where Waldo when we were kids. Remember to do something to your rig to make it your own. It's always nice to get ideas from other rigs out there. Good luck on your build I plan of following it.

Marcus.

If you want, we can start dropping F bombs and insulting you to make you feel like you are back on the civic forums ;)

Good find on the 55.

Where are you located?

I've got a few pieces of the slo-cruiser weather stripping and it works very well.

Body, frame, and interior is unique to FJ55s. Drivetrain is pretty close to exact for FJ40/FJ45s. I believe the one notable difference is motor/bellhousing mounts and driveshafts.

One comment on the 69... if the blinkers are in the grill, you are going to be in a world of hurt. They are unique to FJ55s. Nobody makes repro lenses or the lens gaskets :(
I'm located in Wichita KS, the fj is in Yucca Valley area.

I haven't seen the fj up close but I'm hoping the indicators are fender mounted. If not, I may modify it for those. I kinda like the look of the fender mounted indicators

Welcome. The PIG:pig: is located in Yucca valley:)

Thank you Bob. I was going to ask Mssr Derek Ledford to please refrain from referring to his majestic Iron Pig as an FJ. Please also never, ever call your Pig a "car". It most certainly is not...
