My dilemma, sell as is or finish it first?

Take it off some sweet jumps?!??
Lol, have u lost your marbles!? All kidding aside, that is a good looking truck. I would venture and do the frame swap myself but be prepared for long downtimes for your truck. Never done a frame swap but I expect it is plenty time consuming for a single pair of hands.

True to that! ^^^^
It's a gorgeous truck. If I had the $$, a fork lift and the garage space my wanna have balls would jump for the chance. ;)

Well I bought another 60 in the meantime and want to focus on that now, so Blue has to go. I am going to lose my ass on it but I'm chalking that up to a leaning experience! Part of me wants to rent a garage and do the swap, for the "fun" of it!!

Anyone know of a good comprehensive frame swap thread??

So the shop has declined to do the frame swap, I could ask Proffitt's but I am getting tired of moving this thing around. Anyone have more suggestions? I would do it myself but I have no shop, lift or experience. I might as well keep it and take it off some sweet jumps at this point!!

She's still looking good, I'm sure someone on the Rust Coast or midwest would be happy with her.

All back to stock now-

No lift? Plenty of frame swaps have been done with out a lift.
With all the work you've done no experience is no excuse, I'm sure you could do it.
Youre in Colorado so no shop is no excuse, what 350 nice days a year. Do it in the driveway.
All kidding aside I know you really want to get on with the next one and probably like most of us time is a big factor.
GLWS like others have said I'm sure there is market either way.

I know man, at this point I'll find some cinder blocks and have at it!!! Might actually be fun since I don't need to be driving it. Find some cheap SBC 350 and drop that in "while I'm at it"

Could do the motor and frame swap and get a little more i'd think, even though it isn't built but that could be good for a purist who is willing to accept the chebby motor. If I had the money and a 60 came up with that type of set up (chebby otherwise stock) i'd be on it. That's if...

I'm watchin Roadkill now, getting some really good ideas for Blue!

hey! I think i saw this frame on CL... good luck, what was the final decision? swap the frame? In my current upgrade of adding a trailer hitch, I had the back where the bumper meets the frame rust out, weld shop welded in a piece. However, I also noticed that the C channels just up from there had rusted and split open. Its still solid, but wanted to know if anyone else had seen this?

I have since cleaned and painted the rear frame area. Used the Rustolem Rust Reformer, I'm sure it's not miracle potion, but hoping it slow down any surface rust. Frame seemed to be sold back there, minus the patched area.

I bought this 83 last fall, on the auction site, site unseen. I knew nothing about LC's and now I know quite a bit, after rebuilding the knuckles, brakes, etc. I also found that my frame is rusted through on the inside C channel midway through the truck. At the time I planned to just swap it out, since the body is super clean with no rust and new paint, and it runs great. Plus all the work I did on the front end. So, I sourced a super clean frame and had it blasted and powdercoated, for the eventual swap. Plus an LS swap. Anyway, somewhere along the line I decided to sell this and find a much cleaner 60 that I would not worry about dropping money into ( I know that's impossible). Well the deal is done, and I bought the super clean version, and now I need to get rid of my current rig.

Question is- sell it as a project with the nice shiny frame, or have the frame swapped and throw new carpet in and sell it for more? I was quoted $2k to do the swap at a couple Cruiser specialists here in CO. Either way I'm going to lose alot of money, but I can't change that. I am going to remove the ARB bumper and the wheels/tires for my rig and replace with stock bumpers/wheels from the incoming truck. Plus a non-torn drivers seat.

Those are some real nice powder coating jobs.

Just out of curiosity, when powder coating the frame, are there areas to be cognizant of to NOT paint because the dimension change from the thick coating will screw something up ?

I think I'd be tempted to park it on jackstands on Monday, remove all wiring, cables, axles, and suspension during the week. I'd rent a telehandler on Friday and use use it to mount the cab and engine to the new frame over the weekend and install the suspension, axles, and finishing touches over the second week.

I know right? My issue is moving the truck and frame all over Colorado has been a major pain!! I could rent a space though for a couple months and not be in a rush, might actually be fun.

You should keep it...
Find a way.
