Holy crap, dude... nice work. Sweet bumper!

But, with all due respect, I highly recommend you find another location for that radio. I had a CB in that same spot in my last truck, and more than once I cracked my noggin on that thing, once I drew blood. It looks cool, but you're gonna hate it.

for those rear bilsteins did you move the mounts or anything? i thought those were for 3-4" lifts?

Also beautiful restoration and build. After i get a locker i may just paint the... who i am i kidding, i like the beater look. Suits me better. My truck says "if you hit me, your car is gonna look worse, mines gonna get more paint and increase its value."

Upper and lower mounts are fab'd. The chevy springs added about 2" and the 1" body lift gave a tad more room up top, combined with the new lower mounts worked out well.

Made it to Ouray, Colorado then wheeled for a week and drove out back. Had a couple snags on the way out. Had to stop and put a fan clutch in while going through jackson tn, and a transmission clutch while in albuquerque nm.

2k miles there, 2k miles back and made new friends, and many memories. Mission Success.

They were not a bolt in operation. They fit good, but required fabriaction of new brackets for the rear, and little cutting on the fronts where they bolt to the floor.

Just curious how much work was it to drop that E-locker into the rear?

You have to cut the housing out where the diff drops in, weld a new section on, drill/tap some holes, and get longer studs. Or just swap in a complete axle from an E-locked rig.

Then there's the wiring, it's not too hard but it's not the simplest thing to wire.

I have an 87 runner and I wanna swap the whole axle but dont know what all it will need. I love this build because he has gone the same route with most of his truck I wanna go. I'm gonna have alot of time to read about all this and just wanna do it right and this truck has really come out great!

I used the factory housing, and modified it. If you could find a complete Tacoma axle with e-locker, you would probably be ahead of the game.

Although its not rocket surgery to modify your existing housing, you do have to make sure you drill straight otherwise you'll have a heck of a time bolting in the 3rd member. I suggest going to your dealer, and buying a couple e-locker gaskets. One to use as a template for clearancing, and one to install.
You will also need some of the longer studs that go through the thicker part of the e-locker 3rd member.

Ok there's alot of places in texas I keep seeing Tacomas so I'm hoping one has an e locker in it. I have your truck and a few others as my inspiration haha love the color. Hope you don't mind if I ask alot of questions from time to time.
