Sorry to here that Mike. I hope you get to a good doctor for those issues.

Danny,

I'm hoping you are doing well and healing fast after your eye surgery.

It must be the year for the eyes. Today was my annual eye exam, I found out that my left eye is suffering from retinal hemorrhaging, next week I get to see, no pun indented, an eye specialist. Last week I was diagnosed as having renal failure issues due to diabetes and the diabetic med Metformin, my kidneys function is down to 80%, but the FJ40 work must continue, so I must find more things to do on my cruiser to forget all about my ailments.

Getting old sucks!!

Hang in there brother ~ when it rains it pours!

X5 hope the eye is 'feeling' better ... But ... A word of caution ... Don't actually try to feel it your rough hands may scratch the cornea ... And for Petes sake don't put anything in your eye ... Take care of your eyes :)

I bet you've lost some more weight now ... Keep it up ... Let us know when you get under your 425 goal :) lol

I'm one of those like weber... Always hang around the 160 mark... For the past 30 years ... Before that I was less :meh:

For encouragement - I'm the opposite . I can eat the refrigerator and not gain one pound - crazy metabolism and have always been that way . I'm 6' , and rarely top 160 if I'm lucky . There are a lot of occasions in my work where I could use the weight others have , so keep that in mind - being skinny does have it's drawbacks . I hate trying to buy jeans - my size range is almost non-existent now in this country .
We're pulling for ya - it's really the toughest to lose weight when you have health issues - got several friends in the same situation , support is everything .

Sarge

Thanks Sarge! I'm doing fine with the weight, but would prefer to get back to my workout routine... I haven't been allowed to do anything except walk since February. But, it's all good... Or will be when I'm fully released in mid-March.

How's the eye? The floater will go away after a while but yes it sucks.

I've now had both eyes done, Dave... Right eye yesterday... I had the new lens dive me good distance vision... Both eyes measured 20/20, this morning, for distance. I stopped on the way home and picked to a pair of +2.00 readers so I could catch up on MUD and the news. This is great!!

I have had floaters for years... They never go away, but I seldom notice them any more. The new floater in my left eye was a huge black fuzzy thing... The one on my right eye looks like a tarantula... Turns out these floaters are actually medication... The left one is long gone. I had "drop less" surgery... All the eye drops and meds are implanted with the new lens.

So, all is good!!

Yeah, getting old suck, but the alternative sucks bigger... They have the technology to build you better!!

Get that blood sugar down or up, or both (I worked with a guy who had huge swings both ways, but he was type 1) and straighten it out. You worked too hard to not enjoy retirement!!

My 72 year old brother has had kidney problems for years and has to self-catheterize several times a week... But he does fine. He's also recovering from prostate cancer and doing well. My Dad had kidney problems from St Lo France, 1944 to his death, in 1994, at age 76... But his kidney problems were the result of the concussion of the blast that destroyed his right elbow.

If you need to lose weight, lose it... If you need to exercise, do it... You gotta live long enough to enjoy the new President and all the crap that comes with whomever it is...

I have to be really careful not to stress my eyes until mis-March, do I don't shoot my new lenses across the room...

So, I eat well, I'll lose weight and listen to audiobooks and do light work on 44 and Dianna, daBoise and I will head out somewhere as soon as the eye surgeon releases me.

You know, I could be that guy that tries to raise your blood pressure just to see shooting eyeballs (which would be a good name for a jazz band); but as the recipient of alleged humor just after I broke a couple ribs, I've reformed from that evil way....

that said, glad you're on the mend

Good to hear your second cataract surgery went well. It can be very boring, and brings out the stir crazy feelings when you are house bound, as I can attest to. But, it must be even worse when you feel like getting out and doing something, and can't.

I am not a shopper, but when I got to the point where I was up to using a walker, and electric cart in the stores, I was overjoyed at being able to get out of the house and follow my wife around. When I was able to graduate to a four legged cane, and then to a regular cane I was ecstatic. Being able to drive myself around put me in seventh heaven. So, I'm following closely your progress. I've never been through cataract surgery, but I really know the stir crazy feelings. By the way, I really appreciate your attitude that you have towards life/health concerns.

Your complete recovery is in my prayers.

Don

After having to sit in the dark for 32 days and do absolutely nothing from an eye injury - can't caution folks enough to protect what you have , the alternative is no fun . Hard to believe they are changing out lenses now and all the other tech that has advanced - maybe I have a chance of getting mine fixed some day which will take transplants . Boredom is dangerous , need to find some zen in something...

Put on my old pervert sunglasses and drove 44 over to the gas stations... She was thirsty.. Filled her up and drove home.

Sure felt great to get her out of the stable and on the road!! Took a while to get back home, a commercial welder wanted a tour!!

I wouldn't have chanced this had Dianna been home, but she wasn't, so I did!!

Cant they laser the floaters out?

I feel the freedom bud

Hi! Danny, I had eye surgery this year, new lenses, both eyes. I still take PreserVision Areds 2 to maintain eye health.
My doctor recommended it to offset mackular degeneration witch causes floaters. Check it out with your doctor.
Do not put up with floaters they are trying to tell you something.
Al

@DSB345 Thanks Dave! I haven't explicitly asked, but the doctor is aware of the floaters. He asked about them again yesterday. The large ones, since surgery, are meds... They dissipate ... Left eye is clear. Right eye meds are still there, but it's only been two days. My normal floaters are a bunch of very small black dots and they float up out of the way. I don't ordinarily notice them.

@Heron thanks Al! I don't ordinarily use anything except artificial tears... For day eyes. The surgery was med free, except for the meds delivered with the new lenses. I have no indication of macular degeneration or glaucoma... Just dry eye, now that I have new lenses. I'll ask the doctor about the floaters when I see him next Friday.

Well, I finally have 44 back together... Some of y'all could have done a full frame off in the time it's taken me to insulate the floor and the firewall, replace the rear harness, put new gasket and seal on the tcase and get it all back together.

I'm slow but oh so precise

Looks a lot like it did when I started

I have one of these little LED bars on the back of 44, as a work/offroad/backup light... I really like it and operate it, via a toggle on the dash. So, today, I added one to each side of 44 and wired it to the carb fan toggle I used before I installed my snorkel.
