I ordered new jack handle pieces from my local dealership. I’m not certain that they are period correct but they are functional until I can find the correct ones.

Here’s an update on my table project. I had the base powder coated with a clear matte finish after I was satisfied with the rust. It doesn’t look as good in the picture as it does in person. I am very pleased with patina! It will be another month before the moisture content in the slab for the top is ready for sanding and finishing.

Did you build that base? Looks cool. I also build furniture and random stuff. What is the top made out of?

Jack the fabricator that built my bed rack and rear bumper made the table base. I have a slab of Water Oak for the top.

What do you do about that spot everyone complains about prior to purchasing an FJ40 dash.com dash pad?

Straya mate!

I acquired two more items for Samson last Saturday from a club member.

That speaker work?

I had a maintenance day this afternoon. Since Samson now has 4100 miles on the clock it was time for fresh fluids and filters. I change the engine oil and filter, fuel filter, transmission and t case fluid. Then it was time to service my riding lawn mower with an oil and filter change and blade sharpening. After that I checked out my new radio speaker. It turns out my $20.00 was well spent. The speaker and my stock radio both work. Now I will have to find a way to install the speaker above my AC unit.

Haven't checked in on this thread for a while. I really like the table! Very curious what the endresult will be!

Any surprises when you changed the oil?

Thanks Mark. No surprises at all, except for the huge mess I made! With that massive quantity of oil coming out of the large opening it got very messy under the truck!!!!

I brought the unfinished table top home yesterday. It is now dry enough to start sanding and planeing. I will post pictures shortly.

@troopie here is the latest update on my table project. I brought the top home yesterday. I had to wait for the water content to get below 13% before it could be worked. The top has spent the last 7 weeks under a sheet of plastic with a dehumidifier running 24/7.

I do have a concern about the width of the top over the legs on the narrow end. The top is almost centered in both directions and it barely covers the legs. I will need to think about this some more. I’m sure I can swap the top for another piece of wood if I don’t like it. But I specifically chose this piece because of the “coke bottle “ shape.

Also laying under the table is my next project. It’s a 1931 Johnson A 50 4 hp outboard that is suppose to work. It needs a little R/R. The majority of the motor is aluminum and from the factory it was all highly polished.

I neglected to post a recent modification. Since the installation of the bed rack and RTT, I have lost 99% of my rear view. So I researched and purchased a rear looking camera system. I’m pretty happy with it. I have a reflection issue to work out but it is functional.

That table is going to be something. Great idea on the camera. And being nosy (lol) I see a wood prop (brand? sensenich?), a Sony (or maybe Marantz) tuner - old school! Paul

Thanks Paul, I'm very excited about the table project. I don't know what the brand of the prop is. I looked for a brand and only found an ink stamp that was RP inside of a circle. I salvaged it decades ago from a shop I helped clean out. I use it to prop the blast cabinet door open. The tuner is an older Pioneer unit I have kept in the garage for years.

@Catfish28 you should call me the next time come up to Huntsville. My number is 256-508-9282. I will certainly let you get a closer look and then we can eat.
