I have watched this build come together. A lot of time and attention to detail. I don’t think it could have come out any better.
I have enjoyed watching the progress in pictures and first hand.
Congratulations for a “fist class” build!
Thanks chris, that means a lot coming from you. Thanks for answering all my random questions when I got stuck.

It’s been a very long road and I now know how much goes into a full restore. It is very rewarding to see it come together the way I had imagined it. I will never be at the end of the road with this thing as I’m constantly thinking of ways to “upgrade this and try out that”. I have replaced everything I could get my hands on with oem parts so hopefully I will have less problems and feel confident when taking it out. I didn’t do the best job at keeping this thread current or document and take pics of all the work I did but hopefully it was a good read to see 40 get put back on the road.

It’s amazing how long this type of work takes when you can’t commit to it full time. Great looking truck, you’ll enjoy it for years to come.

No real update on the 40 other than sadly driving it occasionally to blow the dust off the hood.
This past week while the kids were at my in-laws for spring break, my wife suggested we take it out into town for dinner. It was a great idea and she loved every minute of it. She has only been in it a handful of times so it was great to see her excited about it.

Well I’m pretty much terrible at keeping this thread updated. It’s been over 2 years it looks like.
So we have moved again since my last update and sadly lost all my shop space so until I build another one I’m crammed in our garage. We moved to Rome, Georgia so any local cruiser folks around here, please reach out.
Since we moved in June/2022 I really haven’t driven the 40 very much. Last weekend I started it up after changing the oil and putting in some fresh gas but not until I had to spray starter fluid into the carb. When I took the top piece of the air cleaner off, this is what I found:

This is the spacer between the @Racer65 carb and the air cleaner. Luckily all the pieces were on the top and outside of the carb and didn’t fall into it.
Anyway, I did a quick search and didn’t find anything on the forum as being a known problem so I searched his site and found a billet aluminum option so I purchased that and a couple of other things. I really like the quality of this new aluminum spacer.

I’m going to start driving the 40 more and updating this thread with some more updates. It’s time to take the the fiberglass top off and finish that and rebuild the front knuckles. So a call to @cruiseroutfit will happen tomorrow for all needed parts.
I should have done this years ago when I replaced all the brake lines, calipers, pads etc. Anyway pics and updates to follow. Happy 4th of July!🇺🇸

Great job on the resto. The light colored wheels really look great on these darker colored rigs. You have done a great job with all the details and the end product shows it.

Thank you. I really appreciate it.
I was very happy how the wheels turned out. I like the stock gray color but I like how the white ties into the top and bezel more.
