Finished up the copper brake lines not too long ago. Also installed all new rubber brake lines that connect from the differentials. I went ahead and switched the differential cover back to factory because the aluminum one just didn't look right. I replaced the oil in both the front and rear differentials while I was at it.

We also finished installing the 61 buick all aluminum motor. We checked the clutch when we separated it from the motor and the PO had installed a brand new one in it so we left that alone and just replaced the throw out bearing and repainted the flywheel and put them back together. The PO also had the whole engine rebuilt when he had it reinstalled and hadn't restarted it since the rebuild. When we removed the valve covers and oil pan everything was really clean and the seals all looked new. We replaced the spark plugs, wires, resealed and painted the oil pan, new air filter, new water pump, rebuilt the starter, changed the oil with 10W-30 full synthetic, new alternator, new power steering pump, and changed to electric ignition. The PO had told us the 4 bar Holly carb was brand new when he installed it so we checked it out and it had never had gas in it so we left it alone.

We went with an aluminum 17" rim finished in satin black with a 0" offset and they fit perfectly. We ordered JT outfitters HD tie rod arm and drag link along with CCOT tie rod ends kit and will install all of it soon. We went with 285/70/17 Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires.

Unless the old Buick was rebuilt with specific rings made for synthetic oil , better do the break-in run with normal dyno oil or those rings will never seat ....just fyi .

Thanks I actually hadn't thought of that. I ended up draining the oil and putting in conventional oil in it. I also went ahead and changed the filter as well to be safe. I really appreciate it!

So my dad and I have been hard at work working on the FJ40 the past couple weeks and have been able to make some great progress. The body shop we had it kept delaying when they would get it done so we asked them how we could help get it painted. The problem was that the epoxy primer the Line-X shop sprayed on it was such a rough texture that the paint would not come out smooth if they would've painted right over it  So my dad and I spent a two whole days out there sanding it all down smooth and then had it re-sprayed with a smoother laying primer. They then sprayed three coats of Dupont color and three coats of Dupont clear coat. You would think it would be done at this point..............it was not. The painter didn't think it was as smooth as it could be so we wet sanded everything again with 1,000 grit paper just enough to rough it up to paint again. He then sprayed it again with three coats of Dupont color and three coats of Dupont clear coat. The results were AWESOME! :):):):)
