Here’s a few photos of the driver’s side body mount that was moved back. A chop was good enough for 37’s but I knew I’d be trying to get onto 40’s so I had them moved back. And in order to keep clearance, I had this one installed without the body lift spacer, so there’s no going back from this body lift now.

The body above this new location was reinforced with an additional plate welded to the underside. And you can see a small notch cut into the rubber portion of the mount.

A friend of mine offered his spare 42” tire while it was off of his rim. So I dismounted my spare 37” and put this on my rim just for science…

I had some renewed enthusiasm to go bigger than the 37’s.

Also began a little trimming above the rear tire to maintain as much up-travel as possible…

Then I began test fitting…

I knew the front would take some work but each newer Land Cruiser series has had larger fender openings making things a little easier…

Windshield washer reservoir would have to go and I started cutting.

Those are 👆🏼 photos with the shock & bumpstop removed to make sure of clearance.

Then I realized the tire was just too close to the frame to get full steering, so I swapped to the Tundra front end with SPC UCA’s…

Just got my 08 LX a couple months ago and love the potential of these rigs. You are definitely pushing the envelope, nice work. And yet you are still “rocking” factory running boards?

You’re nuts. I love it.

Fearless!

Did you keep the wheel spacers when you did the Tundra swap?
Yes, I currently have 1.25” spacers on front and back. I’m using them on the front to keep the tire pushed out from the frame and from the UCA. The tire still barely touches on the drivers side behind the axle at full lock and this spacer seems like the bare minimum to keep the tire off of the UCA. I have Bora 1.5” on order.

I’m using the 1.25” in the back just to push the wheel out closer to the track width of the front. The front is still much wider (1.5” tundra + 1.25” spacer), but I’m trying to find that balance between odd driving characteristics because of such difference between track widths and still trying to tuck the rear tires inside the rear fenders when flexed.

At one point in time, I think someone was trying to come up with a proper axle widener instead of a spacer but I’m not sure it ever happened.

I was until the 40’s. I did “deform” them on some trails last year but I knew what I was getting into.

I have a plan for proper sliders but I haven’t had the time to implement. With my body lift, which is between 1 5/8” to 1 7/16” around this area, I think I have room to move the AHC components up along the frame a little more. Then I can create a slider that should protect them and be tucked up a little higher than normal. In fact the sliders on my 80 series came out through the rocker panel, under the doors and I’d like to try to do the same thing with this.

Yes, that was it 👌🏼

I wonder if RCV or anyone offers upgraded rear axles for that application because at this point, I don’t think I have any upgrade path for my rear axles if something gives.

Motion to rename thread to "MTKID's Wife's LX on 40s"

There. I fixed your signature.

I did try to order those same 42's because of how light they are. They're only a few pounds heavier than these 40" Pro Comps, but they were out of stock, with no ETA (and they're much more expensive). It's probably a good thing I didn't go that big for any chance of reliability, but I swear this body makes large tires look smaller. The 37's looked like 35's to me. These 40's look like 37's. Those 42's would have looked real good, just wouldn't have been able to turn or felt as reliable with the family in the mountains ; )

A Jeep friend saw me driving on the 40's for the first time, and said from a distance it just looked like a nicely modded 4Runner, but as it got closer he realized just how big the tires really were. I kind of like that effect.

😉 To each there own, but 🤢

There is a company that does modest little 3.5” lifts for Siennas. Journeysoffroad.com and some cool pop-tops are shown on there site too. Another thing I think about for my 200 🤔

A couple other things that I changed around this time.

I removed the other emblems from the back & swapped the rear L emblem. A LC emblem fit fine for the back. Also added a sticker that means nothing to most people, but for those few that understand it’s based on the “It’s basically a Land Cruiser” stickers, well, I think it’s funny…

Then the work on the front emblem. I couldn’t find one from a LC that fit, so this one from a similar year Camry was adapted. We removed the chrome L, filled the holes, sanded it and painted it black again. Then finally epoxied the Camry emblem over the top…

That also shows my front bumper chop. I had done a mild viper cut on just one side and never really liked it. And this style had been in my mind for a while. After seeing @TeCKis300 black out the center of his, I decided to cut mine the way I wanted and do the same…

Also took a couple inches off the back too (a really sharp eye would see that I smoothed off the bottom of the factory hitch, repainted the bottom and moved the trailer harness up underneath, bolted out of the way for now, since I don’t use it…

And you can see I cut the resonator off the back too…

I’ve had the Timbren front and rear bumpstops also for a while. So in the front I have been running both the Durobumps and Timbrens. Durobumps in the front most location on the LCA and Timbren behind. Photo of the rear squishing while testing…

Probably could have avoided that 👆🏼 work if I had just ordered some new adjustable rear links, but I hadn’t resigned myself to that until more recently. I’m now in the market for them because the driver’s side rear tire makes the smallest contact with the body mount in front of it and I’m thinking long term for even more clearance.

The 4.88’s were installed before I got it onto the 40’s. Here is the switch for the Harrop e-lockers…

Here is how she is doing for MPG, which when accounting for the 26% adjustment for tire size, isn’t half bad at all. This tank would have been 14.74mpg, mixed driving. Around town is certainly worse but I’d swear Highway is better than when I was on my 37’s and stock gears.
