Ahhh. Bringing back PTSD from going off-roading and hearing the CD skip every time you hit a bump.

Spotify does use data, and I do pay like $5 a month because I used to be a student. It's nice because you can make your own playlists and listen to all the music you want. Mine has been reliable even when I don't have service because you can "download" all the songs for no data playback. I've been using spotify for 5+ years and have always been happy with it.

I second spotify premium. Use it on the daily for the features it has and being able to download 3333 songs per device up to 10k iirc.

I’ll look into Spotify if Sirius won’t offer me a good deal for my 4th radio. Should be pretty much free!

You want to talk about PTSD? My buddy once got a Spirit of the West tape stuck in the deck of his F250 and it was the only music we could listen to on a 4 day drive into the wilds for some alpine rock climbing in the northern Rockies. For those of you that (luckily) don’t know who that band is, lets just say it’s really bad poppy folk crap.

All my stereo stuff arrived the other day, and I recall ordering the Sirius Tuner last night (beer fueled commerce at its finest) and at $42 with 3 months free service I figured what the hell. I was going to go out of town Weds-Thurs this week, but bailed on that plan, and I hope to get some welding of sheet metal done at least one of those days.

Spotify question: if you get the premium version, and download, how long do the songs stay on your device? I tried the free version and it’s useless as if no wifi, no music. I’m not using data on my phone to listen to music. Premium is showing up at $9.99 per month, and for that money I might as well stick with iTunes and add 10 more songs per month, especially if the download on Spotify only last 90 days or something like that.

Spotify question: if you get the premium version, can you download,(and for how long) or is it always streamed? I tried the free version and it’s useless as if no wifi, no music. I’m not using data on my phone to listen to music.

It stays downloaded for however long you want. On the iPhone if you don't want to use data download all the songs and then turn data off for Spotify and you'll have all your songs in once place.

Free spotify sucks - it's like a worse version of Pandora!

Riiiiiip. Cuuuuuuut. Cuuuuut. Cut cut. Cuuuuut.

So you bought front fenders and cut them up to make rear patches?? That's genius!! I need the same lower section patched in front of the rear tire.

Yup, that’s what I did. I’ll take that compliment. I thought it was a good idea, and I’m sure others have done it, but I’ve not seen it myself.

I ordered a pair and used them on the opposite sides to where they are intended. My inners are almost perfect still, so it’s easy-ish to make the right shape. I bought a 36” sheet metal brake for my Airstream work, so I’ll try to make the short bit of rocker I need with that, or I might get lucky and find the section of rocker I have left over from my ‘92 pickup. It might be close enough with a bit of tweaking.

Thanks John. The tire shop guy swears he’s going to replace them, but he is right next to one of my main suppliers and I’ve gone there 3x so far with him having nothing for me.

Fantastic work @joseywales!

The rear of the pickup bed is different than the sheetmetal for the 4Runners. They have a groove that is ground a little deeper to account for the tailgate. It's a slightly different piece, but you may be able to salvage some of it.

I’ll just leave these here.

Wow^^^^That’s solid work

Thanks G. I’ve done a bit of body work before, (I was the one who asked Todd from Aqualu if he thought could build me an aluminum FJ40 tub way back in 1993 so I used to cheat a bit), but I think this is my best weld-in of new metal yet. The rear sides took five separate pieces of front fender each, with a couple being re-bent on my brake. There is actually very little mud used (we all HATE mud after all!). I’ll get some better pics when the sun comes out. The light in my shop is really bad.

Yea get some sunny shots. Looks great though. I might have to copy the process. My end results won’t look nearly so nice though.

Sunny shot. I’m hoping the rest will polish up and match the fresh areas when I hit it with the Maguires “Ultimate Compound”. My parts guy figures it’s the only one that has a hope of resurrecting the Toyota red from its oxidation.

That looks great!

Thanks! I ordered up the hardware to mount the rock guards in front of the rear wheels. Some of the pieces (like the $4 each screws!) are on the east coast, and some are in L.A. Should be here in a week or so. I will be careful of rust starting again behind them, but it will take a while to get ugly again. It’s started to snow here and is going to be hovering around freezing for the next week, so front fenders will have to wait a week or so now.

Found this article while perusing the webz... Makes me happy, even if it is just another random nerds opinion.
