So out in Death Valkey and had a little visitor in my glovebox.

so woke up and naturally the bait (was gone) and trap not spring - smart mouse!

doesn’t look like any damage and hoping the mouse was a day tripper from the local arroweed

Only thing I noticed was the thick black cable that looks scratched/gnawed up - right near to the rear heater valve.

What's going on on the underside of your heater control valve?

yeah i noticed that too - I replaced that myself 6 years ago when I redid all the cooling lines......need to dig deeper - would be surprised if it is failing...

Sorry about the mouse, you will conquer!!!

That heater control valve needs to be replaced before it leaves you stranded.

I would highly recommend pulling the throttle body and wrap that wiring harness to protect if from further melting. Trust me you want to address the issue before it causes more issues, like shorts in the harness etc.

thanks - will do!

what material is best to wrap it with?
I like the Fire Sleeve from aircraft spruce. It isn’t cheap but you don’t need a lot. I think I bought 2ft just for good measure and ended using much less. Here’s a pic of what I bought.

That is a good option, I bought that gold heat resistant tape off Amazon. Mine is 1" strips, I would get something a little wider so you use less.

As for rodent deterrent, I keep hearing about dryer sheets and peppermint oil. Little buggers got my knock sensor harness in the Tundra last year.

I have dryer sheets, peppermint oil and irish spring in my truck. I have seen those assholes ruin a friends classic Ford truck and I don't want them near my cars. lol

Stuff looks awesome, Do you just cut a slit length wise and use metal cable ties to secure?

It is probably failing. That appears to be a Four Seasons control valve? Mine looked exactly the same after 4 years, replaced with OEM. They seem to fail at the bottom.
