Now for the quick question. I re-assembled the centre arm tonight. The Toyota Land Cruiser 'Chassis and Body' repair manual says, 'Screw down the big nut and then back it off a quarter of turn, then tighten up the little bolt on the top'. When I do this, it is so tight that it won't turn. I stuck the bracket in a vice and clamped onto the shaft with vice grips and it still wouldn't budge. So I backed out the big nut two or three complete turns. Does anyone have any experience with these beasties. The rebuild kit is made in Japan, but I don't think it is genuine Toyota, I am thinking there might be very small changes in size. Anyone???

This build soothes my OCD. Top shelf stuff. Is the rebuild kit for the centre arm the joint Fuji brand ? Oem is still available part no 04453-60021.

I remember my wife once saying something very similar to me.
Only once??

Wait til you get that centre arm in situ, then be concerned if it doesn't move easily.

Poor, poor Pauciflora,
He needs to plate his bolts some more'a,
To keep up with the resto crowd,
[We know black bolts are not allowed],
On ya highly detailed ute two-door'a.

My goodness..........that is just extraordinary. There is just no end to your creative talents.
Actually there is. And it's not far past the end of that there ballad.

That brand is Joint Fuji and and it's very good.

Just from what I have read about joint Fuji they also do tie rod ends etc is all good things I was going to go that way but ended up getting oem tie & relay rod ends and they came with the steering rods as well.

Wow Ben! You really are going all the way. Lucky for you Mr. T doesn't get down under very often or he might comendear your winch chain!?

Not much to report. I had a little bit of wear on my diff pinion, so I picked up an 'Extreme Seal' from 'RoadRunner Off Road'. The seal is a stout looking bugger and it is actually the seal that rotates on itself, not the diff pinion rotating in the seal.....if that makes any sense. I marked it in yellow pen to help explain what I'm prattling on about. The third photo is the stock OEM type seal.

Ben I have appreciated the "L" and "R" markings on the hubs, the arms as well as the backing plates for some time now. As I suffer from Half Timers. I can't remember half of what I've seen, heard or said half the time. Occasionaly it turns into All Timers. Those are really bad days!

Cool build my Aussie brother, I enjoy your sense of humor, much like my own. I read your thread in my oz accent to make it more authentic.

G'day 73FJ,

I glad you are getting something from this thread.........I don't think that you will pick up much in the way of mechanicals tips.

Canadians are my favourite people..........or at least Canadian women are my favourite people. I've never met a Canadian woman who isn't gorgeous. It must be your weather, we are all slowly getting fried to death in Australia.

Cheers,

Ben
