Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

Hi all, looking to get into the 200 series game and would appreciate some input! I've done some research of my own on actual sale prices of comparable rigs from BAT and any other sources I could find, but all input is valuable to me.

I'm looking at a 2021 Grey/Terra w/ 33k-ish miles on it. It's an Ed Martin/Eric build with rear airbags, LRA aux tank, CarPlay, paint protection and a few other "nice to have" mods (spoke with Eric, all verified, stand up guy) so by all appearances it's a well-taken care of truck in great shape. It sounds like the owner may have backed into a garage door (or something similar) at one point but Eric assured all the work was minor/cosmetic and done right by them (doesn't show up on CarFax/Autocheck).

It's priced in the mid 90's which seems to me to be a bit of a stretch but I'm looking for honest feedback as I believe these "mildly-built" trucks don't come up too often with low mileage and I want to some my homework before making an offer.

Hard to say. Eric's builds started in the 90's and went as high as 160's for the more extreme builds. I wouldn't put much of a premium on the "nice to have" options in this market. Prices appear to be in a downward trend in the high end so I would take that into consideration. Other than that, would be hard to go wrong with low miles and a reputable dealer.

Agreed, no question that the quality is there in parts/labor and the build sticker was well over the current ask.

This all comes down the value of mods I suppose. With a reputable dealership and quality products, I assume you pay for a proportion of them but I came from a world of "mods don't add any value!" so it's harder for me to stomach. I would just love to hear if there's a new common practice in 200 series land where "anything from Ed Martin and you pay for 50% of mods" or something similar to make sure I'm not out of touch with the higher end market.

Yes, I'm with you. I've never assumed mods added much to the retail value of a vehicle either, but there is a market for the folks who want a turn-key rig. I think Ed Martin is a good example of that market.

Just a side note, and nothing against Eric or Ed Martin, but there have been a couple of cases where 4WP (who Ed martin uses for most mild builds) didn't do a fantastic job. Any alteration from stock should be considered a liability in the retail market. ...That doesn't keep me from moding though! :)

This isn't a stretch at all for price, especially for a 2021, and even more so if it's a heritage. Unsure of how you're getting that idea.

LRA tank is easily 5k, my PPF cost me nearly 8k, my carplay unit was nearly 1k, unsure of the other "nice to haves".

Point of clarity - it’s not a Heritage. Just basing my pricing on others currently for sale or recently sold.

Can you clarify, assuming NO mods, are you saying mid 90s is fair or are you adding those mods in? Stock, I’ve been seeing closer to high 80-90k being a bit closer but we’re very not far off. Just wanting to understand your math! I have the invoice for all the work done and you’re about dead on for pricing.

This whole debate seems to boil down to what mods are worth which is going to get me different answers I’m sure.

I'm factoring in the price of those mods. I'd pay 3 or 4 grand more for a big LRA (unsure which size it is, but they're all the same price), less for the 15 gallon one.

The PPF is user dependant if you think it's valuable. I find it valuable, especially on my black cruiser.

I won't drive a modnern vehicle without carplay, it was the first mod I did to my cruiser.

In my opinion mid 90's is probably fair.

Thanks for clarifying, sounds like this will be heavily dependent on what (if any) of the mods I would have done anyway and what I’m willing to pay for.

It is the small 12.5gal tank if that makes any difference.

Uh, yes exactly. Your figure of 50% seems about right, so add 50% value of mods to the $85k (or so) book value and you should be close to a fair price. If it's got anything you don't want, and that most buyers wouldn't want, and would cost money to change back....well, subtract for that.

That is probably the best way to view the modifications, if it is something that you would certainly do after purchase they may carry a higher value than 50%, not quite 1:1 dollars, but maybe close if it is the definite direction of your build goals. Opinion, it is a $85k wholesale 90k retail truck, depending on condition, Toyota Certification, etc. and add how you value the modifications.

I have had both the 12.5 and 40 gallon LRA’s. Both carry advantages and additional challenges, but are one of the best mods that can be done to a 200.

I would ask Eric, (who installed a 12.5 in my 20’ HE), if the truck you are looking at has had his newest updated installation. Being a 21’ that is likely. He put in alot of effort in working out some of the challenges that accompany the 12.5 gallon install as it relates to venting and noise, he is very knowledgeable and always provided me with great service!

This is a good price if it checks out. Used stock wheels are relatively inexpensive. Make sure they have the key to those locking lugnuts though!
Called into the dealership and it was a really odd experience. Whomever answered just sort of muttered and then said he would send me pictures and just hung up. Car has been on sale in Dallas since May 2022, and is in the Google Street view photo. Place is a buy here pay here that advertises $299 specials, so thinking this might be lot candy to lure someone in. Alas, unless I end up in Dallas for some reason, probably pulling back on this one.

Where is it? I’m happy to do a drive by for you sometime this week.

Great input @desmocruiser, much appreciated!

I could still be wooed into this one if it is legit for sale, but just got an odd vibe. Or maybe I just need to practice my spanish and dive in with that..AL?
I have been watching this one too from IL.. they have told.me they would send me undercarriage pictures and a carfax multiple times since February. I have talked to multiple people there as well saying they would and nothing was sent to me and no return calls after they said they would call.

I found they bought it from Lux Motors in Chicagoland.. it appears to have rust from the front skid plate and other areas but not sure where it lived as I havent wanted to spend money on a carfax since the dealership has been so wacky. it seems odd they have a website but use a hotmail email address?

I was wondering if someone at the dealership owns it and they keep it posted online so they can get a business write off or something. They are not acting like they have any interest selling it. I noticed the Google map pics as well previously and it looked like it was parked for driving it, not for selling it but who knows. It didnt have window pricing like the other cars on the lot.

I saw some rust on the air box hinges / locks which is why I was wondering backstory. So seems like this one we are writing off as actually available. However, price wise, hopefully shows market direction.

As an FYI, I was recently considering two private seller LX570s but unable to see them before they sold. A 2013 with 181k miles in WI went for $23,500 and a 2014 in IA with 164k miles went for $25k. A bit frustrated I didn't get a chance to meet up to see either before they sold.

I have been looking at LCs and LXs since the start of the year. I had test drove a 2013 with 184k miles on it many times and it sold when I was hesitant due to high mileage. It sold for $29,500. It was a rust belt with mostly surface rust.

Since then I have been eyeing lower mileage due to concern of spending $30k on a high mileage truck. I know the cruiser history but when talking stats like we have in the other thread @AnyMal started I'm not sure about taking the high mileage plunge...
