I guy I work with told me to try using feed molasses mixed with water 9 parts water one molasses to remove rust. apparently it takes about two weeks kept at 20 degrees. He gets the molasses at a feed store just outside of Duncan near radd cruisers for 20$ enough to do a 45 gallon drum. No nasty chemicals and won’t attack other metals like aluminum or copper. Anybody got a pool their not using big enough to fit my cruiser ?

I see metal rescue has skyrocketted in price since American Pickers started hyping it up.
I like the molasses idea, but doesn't it attract bears?

Sceptic in me is having trouble wrapping my head around rust removal by soaking in water based solution.
Have to look into this.

It works incredible. I use it for small parts, put them in a container and bring them inside beside the wood stove (product requires at least room temperature to work properly).

Things seem to flash rust quickly after pulling it out and drying it off. I haven’t figured out a good way to stop that. From my googling that isent a big deal, once painted well it won’t progress as rust aparently.

it wouldent work in my cold garage. I had to move it inside the house. The :princess: wasent too impressed with this, it really smells like strong molasses. So I made a lid for it and you can’t smell it at all until you lift the lid.

Oh yeah your right. But this is easy and so cheep. At the shop I used to work at I ran the blaster cabinet a lot and never enjoyed it, It’s not perfect. A lot of the paint was loose after just a week. If you had the time I think it would remove most paints as well.
