The line on the map makes it look easy than it is. Although a great trail dont underestimate HITR trail with no EMS and nothing is close if you are in need.

Sounds like you are a firm "Yes" for this trip. Don't give me any of this BS that "oh, I can't. I will be camping on the beach in MX then."

Don't try to scare these guys... a bunch of worn out old 80's made it :cautious:

It can't be that bad. How does HITR compare to Poison Sypder, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Spike?

Not sure if you’re referring to the Series 2000? If so, it’s an awesome awning but absolutely requires two people to deploy given the automatic roller.
I have a Eezi-Awn Series 2000 mounted on my 4Runner — while two people is better than one, I regularly open and retract it solo...

Hmmm... that's not what I wanted to hear but not often I'd need to deploy by myself I guess. How did you end up mounting it? They suggested bolting direct to the rack (I have the F/R) for stability.

Yeah, you could bolt to the rack. Mine is mounted to the Eezi-awn mounts made specifically for the awning and then those are mounted to some brackets that I made.

Sounds like I may just be inept at opening it. I've opened it solo 3 times and 2 of those times I sent it careening back into its case. Somehow the legs managed to hit the sliders/tires instead of the body.

I haven't been on any of those, but have been on HITR with a 100 after lockers on 33's, and it had no issues at all. I wasn't there, but heard that same truck needed a little tug in the two spots I showed in the pics a few pages back before lockers. Then there's the guy in the van pulling a huge trailer that made it... We are all going to survive.

Its not but to down play it would not be fair. Personally my heart rate did not increase much on Poison Sypder, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Spike mainly because there is nowhere to go if you get off the trail. Not trying to intimidate if you are comfortable on the trails noted above you will be fine. At the first off camber down hill right turn you will know if you are on the right trail for you. HITR does has a lot more exposure, shelves, and off camber.

Ask and LISTEN to your spotter if you are not comfortable unless you want pictures like below.

What is crazy about that picture is that Steen and I did the wedge for the first time together...in the dark :nailbiting:. Honestly that section isn't hard at all and I never felt the slightest uncomfortable on it, but as Phil says (and shows) the wrong line can get you into some big time trouble. With that said I don't expect any issues. We won't fly through it trying to make record time. We will enjoy the trail, take our time and help one another out when needed.

The trailhead is 4 hours from Telluride and 2 hours and 40 minutes to Moab. You may be looking at Hole In The Rock Road?

I was mapping from Escalante as I wasn't quite sure where the trail started. After seeing the map above, Escalante is no where close. :D

@LandCruiserPhil , what's the range of that drone?
in case we need parts, bandaids or more beverages....

I'm hoping I used up all my bad juju last year....not much more could have gone wrong.

that guy either changed his shorts afterwards or bonged a beer

I bet

I remember seeing the video of this after Scott and I did the night run through there... and asked myself... "how in the hell did he get in that position?" The chute is really cool but not difficult at all in either direction. The more dangerous part is avoiding the hole at the bottom. With a spotter, no problem, without one it's an invisible vortex of badness.
