Nice I love the truck looks good I want to do the same thing. did you just paint over the rust or how do you remove the rust from it?

The Alt is off my 1974 1.5 F engine... I wanted to use this one because I know it works as I had the engine running before I took it out. Both the 1.5F and 2F alt. looked the same before I started cleaning the 1.5F one... so here are some pics of the cleaned and painted one next to the dirty rusty one... I think it came out very nice and I was very happy with the end result...

The one that is in my truck now is actually a GM model.... I changed it out later on.... I sanded all the rust off as it was just surface rust and then I painted it.

Lots more work has been done… getting closer… been too cold to paint last few days…. Two weeks ago it was too humid, I just cant win. But moving along… here are a lot more pics

oh yea.... that is real crome..... not paint.... who would do somthing like this...

This is my solution to the alum. tub and the bows not fitting like they do on the factory tub. Poser helped me build these. And they work great.

So still left is priming hood, sanding primer on doors, hood and sides. My goal is to shoot all these green at the same time. All the door components have been blasted and painted and are ready. I forgot to take a pic of these so you will have to wait until later.

Sawyer looks so much older now than he did at the beginning of this build….. :frown:

Looks good man!!!!!!

doors are all green, I also painted the hood and sides aprons. The hood had 4-5 bad places in it so I wet sanded them last night and I have the heat on in the paint booth for repaint today.

Doors look good; just need wet sanding and painting.

I was not at all happy with the chrome side aprons, I can not get one of them to hold on to paint... not even primer, it seems to crack all the time, I have painted it 3 times, and it is ok, but still has a crack in the paint right by the hood latch.

I took off my old ones, welded up the holes that the PO drilled to fit a different emblem. Going to shoot those also tonight. Take the best out of the 4 and use them on the truck.

So minus all these set backs progress is moving forward. I have seriously been working every night on this and both Saturday and Sunday. So progress is just slower than I was expecting.

You should have polished up the chrome and just put them on your truck. :grinpimp:
