Looks great. The more practice y'all get means that I am that much closer to painting my 40 Nordic blue.:D

You sand it and we will paint it! I hate sanding:bang:

Have you seen the sweet FJ40 of Charles Garveys right down the street from you at Kevin D's?

I would definitely sand it down first but she is gong to need a little metal work too. I am in no hurry.

Yes, I have seen Charles Gravey's rig. How could I miss it, I bring and pick up my kids at the bus stop every day. From the bus stop it is like 100 yards. I have a cruiser radar.

I figured you saw it. You know with that radar system you have.

When you are ready to work we will get your fj40 done, even if I have to sand!

So, here's another update. Since we got everything painted and put back together I have put stickers all over her, got some in-cab lighting put in (more to come so I can see what's going on next time Lance decides we need to make a Night Mud-Doggin' run  ), upgraded her shoes to 35's on non-fake-beadlocked Pro Comp rims, replaced the alternator and got the winch mounted up. The universal channel from HF worked out fine. It was my ignorance that was stopping me from mounting the winch on it before.

For the wiring of the winch, I put the control box under the hood for a couple reasons.

  1. Because of the over heating issues in the past, I wanted nothing blocking the radiator.
  2. I wanted to do in-cab controls.
  3. I wanted to protect it as much as I could from damage.

So, as you can see in this last picture, I mounted the box to the inner passenger fender and then ran the controller cable through the firewall. The controller is in the glove box and the cable is long enough that I can still use it outside the truck and reach the front of the truck or (like I did a few times at GSMTR) I can use it in the cab. I put some rubber electrical tape around the plug on the box to make sure it doesn't go anywhere and is kind of water tight. I also put a ground "kill switch" on the dash so the winch cannot be accidentally activated without the switch pulled "on".

Thanks guys. Yes, Paul, that is Tenn mud on the tires and spots of it all over the truck if you look close enough. I did a quick wash job the other day when I was at Deryl's shop. Other than that, she is still dirty from the hills. :D

maybe I should put my controller under the hood for protection (you know when someone thinks the transfer case is in gear and decides to use your controller box for a trampoline)

Sweet Mike, I like it... looks like it's pretty well protected from your radiator as well ;)

What the buzz all about.

That would just be Deryl trying to stir the pot AGAIN! What he fails to remember is that Hachi may buzzz or be the bee or whatever but she did lead a few rides at GSMTR, was loaded on to the trailer under her own power, didn't try to make a roman candle out of herself, made the trip to Sicily Island there and back through a tropical storm and will be going to Superlift. Let's ask him about his not-so-mean green JD tractor.
