Good info. Seems reasonable. I will see if I can get a similar menu from Smiths. Seems like all you will need is bearings, rings, a gasket kit and an oil pump if the cam and lifters are good. Am I missing anything?

^Good deal Chris,

WOW work is cheap over there, Down here in Aus thats $700-$1200 worth of work!
And I wouldnt trust anyone on the low end of that number!

I did not talk to them about the other pricing but the head price seemed in line. Nothing had to be replaced. Everything was within spec. They did mill the surface and clean and grind and seat all the valves. They replaced all the freeze plugs as well. I am happy. I have to degrease the outside a bit and see if I can get some high heat duplicolor to stick. (Sorry about the hijack Ben :hillbilly: )

Chris, no worries it's all good info to have.

Bump. Mine is running like a sewing machine again.
(Although I did pull the gas tank the other day to redo some fittings.)

What is the situation on yours Ben?

I was thinking about getting started on the seized 2F in my shop but the question I have is about pistons and rings. Are they pretty much unobtainable now (granted I have not searched). I do not know tbe condition of the crank, rods or cam either so those would all need attention and I do not want to throw good money after bad, I just have a desire to do a rebuild.

Chris: What year 2F is it? A lot of OEM parts are still available for the 2F.... Pistons, rings, bearings, lifters, camshaft, etc. A lot depends on your flavor of year.

Still disassembled, seems every time I get a little money and about to pull the trigger on parts or machining my dogs or my house eats it.:beer:

What are you in need of Ben. I have plenty of new OEM parts that belong personally to me that I would be interested in assisting your build.

I shudder to think of what all I'll be needing, i think if I wrote it all down I'd get a nose bleed. Basically I was planning to get all the machining done while amassing all the replacement parts gaskets etc. for the rebuild. then final assembly.
I was planning on using the RV Cam, Lifter and Valve Spring Kit from Man-a-Fre
But giving their current situation that may not work out.
In hind site I really do need to sit down and get a list going and check things off as I go along. I really appreciate the assistance and I'll be getting with both you and Sam when I need to start ordering the OEM bits that I'll need.
Thanks a lot
