Greg,

About how much tranny fluid needs to be added after doing the tranny cooler install? I just checked tranny fluid
and it was in the low range for cold temp when tranny fluid was hot.

I heard a small creaking noise from the front. I am thinking it might be wheel bearings. I have not had that serviced since I bought it.

wheel bearing is gonna make alot of noise, wobble and wheel/tire is gonna end up not where it was designed to go. Creak sounds more like a motor mount...

I finally had time to look at my 62 today after a long hard weekend in hot springs, too bad I could not
make it to superlift, I was busy drinking and betting on ponies.

I was looking at the parking brake and everything moves when you set and release the parking break but the left rear wheel does not move at all when I jack it up. It seems seized, so I am thinking of a stuck brake. I have never tore into a drum brake, how difficult is that?

Also something new cropped up. The idle is now lower than normal causing the battery light and seatbelt light on dash to illuminate but as soon as I add gas and get the rpms to around 1000 the lights turn off.

I knew as soon as I did not swap my junk for gregs junk a bunch of stuff would pop up.

Call me and i'll come help with drum brakes - both of mine are drums all the way around. I'm free in the evenings this week and all next weekend.

I am trying to get drum of my hub and can't since brakes are locked up.
I have seen reference to star wheel to retract brakes. I can't get a flat head screw
driver to work. Anybody done this or have any tips?

Even when the brakes are not seized you have to WAIL on these to get them out. I hit them with a BFH all the way around the drum and hammer a screw driver into that round hole from the side to pry it off. It will come off but it is work.

FYI there is a threaded hole in the front of the drum that is there for the purpose of pushing the drum away from the axle. 12 MM bolt, IIRC

You shouldn't have to mess with the shoes to get the drum off.

Get a bigger hammer to it like nolen said.

Is that the same threaded hole that the retaining
screw was in?

No, different hole. The retaining screw hole will keep it "retained" ;)

Threaded hole + BFH'll get 'er loose!

If the parking brake is frozen then he might have to beat the s*** out of it!

It helps if you cuss it while beating the s*** out of it with a BFH.

I have a small little brake tool that I think you're overlooking, and I'll bring my 'engineer's hammer'. Should be good. What time, and where?
