Good deal. Toyota used some great paint.
 
Pulled some caps and did some plastigage, everything is in spec and looks great. Took the oil pump apart, looks new...oil pan is buttoned up. Should have read the tube first...their fault for not checking my credentials!

I’m casually hunting for a project that has been deemed too far gone for a while.

If you don’t mind me asking, what did you pay for this one? Feel free to ignore if that’s an improper question... like asking a lady her age or something.

Thanks. I can kind of see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thought I was about there until the trans issue. The receipts haven't stacked up too bad, sourced a lot of parts here and all have been fair deals.

Seriously - I was afraid my assistant at work today was going to notice I did nothing all day.

And to then add to the weird engine start videos coming from my office.

I’m looking to buy something that’s basically scrap price, maybe tops $1500. Not sure how reasonable, will have to waste more time at work hunting for one.

Hilarious. Aren’t we all looking for deals while at work? I was checking out ultrasonic cleaners on Craigslist tonight on my phone while at work.

Hehe, I had envisioned kind of a worst case scenario and this was it. I came in knowing it was going to be roadworthy again one way or another so not a big deal I suppose. When the TC was toast I had high hopes that was the lone culprit.

Good stuff. F (nevergiveupyota) used to send me videos of her motor quite a bit and I'm sure it looked odd with the phone on speaker and me listening intently sitting at my desk. This is a good community, all suffering from the same affliction, Welcome to Mud :flipoff2:

Oh I have had my employees walk into my office as I was listening to one engine sound video or another and asked me “what the hell ia that???” Only to have me have a sheepish grin on my face and say something like “He just finished an XYZ engine swap and that was the first start!!!”

An update on this now that I've had some time to really get into it. 1/90' through 1/95', that spring assembly is the replacement for the earlier A440F individal springs and spring seat on (rear clutch C2, pg AT-61). All components in the assembly are the same between the A440 and the A442 except this change. The springs are shorter but the inset for the snap ring is shallower so the overall length is the same when installed with the snap ring in place.

They're from an 06' PT Cruiser. After scouring Pick N Pulls and other yards for a while now, I decided on these. The BMW seats are nice but none I saw were in decent shape. There was a dinstinct pattern of finding tore up BMW seats and nice condition PT seats. Besides cigarette burns, seems almost all PT drivers were careless smokers. Ride height is good and very comfortable. Color is close, might paint the trim pieces with the same paint as the dash.
 
Automatic transmissions scare me. Glad to see you have it under control. My 85 FJ60 has the H55 in it, which is just fine with me. Maybe someday, I'll earn my man card and tackle an automatic rebuild. Keep up the good work -- dig your attitude and the quality of your work and posts. Keep 'em coming!
