nice spare :flipoff2:

looks like it wants to do some burnouts!!!

On a serious note, I really like how you used the ladder as some protection for the jerry can.

It was just a spare laying around......

I also like the protection of the jerry can too. How bout that chrome can?

here is some pics of the rear end painted up with primer..... still needs a few coats of enamel but looks good I think...
also fabed up some new shackles that added about an inch of lift today too. I love the stance now.

Couple more too....
All that left on this project is hooking up the A/C and fitting a fj60 speedometer in the 62 dashboard. Reason being is the T/C is from a fj60 and the speedo in the 62 is racing cause of the gearing difference. when the rig is traveling at 55 (with the 62 speedo hooked to the 60 case) it reads 65 MPH Id rather it read 45 when Im doing 55MPH. It racking up mileage quickly the way it is now.
And rear corner protection too...
Im thinking of crackin a bottle of champagne on the ARB next week!

Great build continues....thanks for documenting and so many pics too.
I'll pretty much be copying your bumper build - love the hitch receiver incorporated within the bumper!
But that's a WAYs down the road; mount engine, powder coat frame, rebuild axles, touch up body....etc, etc, etc.

Anyway. Thanks for the thread.
Hey, do you still want this 4-speed? No rush, it's not hurting anything sitting here, just thought I'd ask as long as I'm typing.

Best,
Trav.-

Thanks Trav.
I do want that H42... I will be making a road trip in my 40 soon. Im thinking of camping in Idaho and Montana for a week. It will be in July. I'll let you know before long.

I also may look for an adapter for the TC and speedo to get it more accurate. Rather then trade out a fj60 speedo. The fj60 speedo wont fix my issue. It will just make it the other way around. (slower not faster.)

I ordered up some A/C lines. Then im having them cut and refitted to the toyota ends. The hoses are a week out......Arrrrrggggg!!!!

Have you checked out North Hollywood Speedometer? I'm not sure if they do gears for the LCs, but I remember stumbling upon them when I was doing stuff with my swap.

The rig looks even better in person! We're also trying to figure out how to get the temp gauge hooked up, and heard Georg may have an adapter to make the stock gauge work. Anyone used this idea? I've read about others tapping a new hole in the block but want to avoid that route.

I havent yet....
I too remember stumbling over this a while back. just cant remember where I saw the exact application.
Thanks for the heads up.

From the speedo calibration thread: (sorry to plagiarize but my quote button isn't working right so sorry to the original posters )

So Tuesday, I ordered a Ratio Adapter (P/N 800F 1.1555) from CSS (Commercial Speedometer Service) in Sacramento, CA.

Greg Burlin was my contact (916.371.5873) and shipped me out the adapter same day. Because I'm in Nor Cal, I got it next day via UPS. J

Speedometer Service in Portland ,OR also makes the conversion gear boxes. I had one on my recently (last night) sold FJ60. When I changed gearing again I called them up and they just sent the gears to replace to correct the speedo and it was spot on both times.

Thanks Finnyfam, sorry you parted with your rig :( Are you going to replace it?

My bad guys!!! I was quoting from the speedo thread, just trying to provide info.(everything below the parentheses is quoted, but my quote button wasn't working...) Betsy Ross is still in the family!!!

Tom, I didn't realize that you were building this rig! I'm tuned in now :D

Good work my friend!
