I contacted Tucson Offroad, the club who has adopted the Chiva trail, and let them know that CSC would be interested in participating in their next cleanup. Here is the reply I got from their VP.

{Hey Alvin,

Our next club meeting is next week and we are going to start planning a cleanup/run out to the Chiva trail. Once we set a date I'll post it up on our forum along with the Copper State Cruisers forum. We'd love to have you guys come out and lend a hand. Also, I'd like to plan a run around the Phoenix area and would love to have you guys show us around. Let me know what you think and I'll bring it up at our meeting and then we can go from there.

Thanks

I would like to see CSC make a good showing for this if it comes to fruition. This is a great trail, but in dire need of major cleanup. 2 clubs together and maybe some media attention should put out a good word for all of us.

Alvin,

GREAT IDEA! Let's get it done. Let Kyle know that we are ready, just let us know when and where.

Anybody interested in getting KGUN9 out to the "cleanup" for coverage. I might be able to make this happen.

YES! Media coverage of 2 4x4 clubs doing something good for the trails is just what we need.

Hey everyone!

My name is Kyle Lutzelberger and I am the founder and Vice President of Tucson Off-Road. I just wanted to give you guys an update on when the cleanup run will be for the Chiva trail. As of right now we are in the planning stages and have a tentative date for Saturday March 8th. Our plan is to do a pre-run of the trail a week or two prior to the 8th to see if any trail maintenance will need to be done along with any trash cleanup. This run will also be a memorial run in remembrance of Roger Krause. For those of you who don't know, Roger was killed March 10th, 2007 by a man running from the police. Tucson Off-Road adopted this trail in honor of Roger and his family will most likely be in attendance. I will keep you updated on the exact details of this run.

Thanks
Kyle

Let us know Kyle! This group is always good for a solid turnout at cleanups. We're working on our own up here right now for Feb 9th.

I may be able to make this one, I just need to figure how much time it will take to come around the east side of the mountain.

I shot a email off to KGUN9 News and asked them if they wanted to cover the event under their "Who's Trashing Tucson" segment. I'll keep you posted on their response.

Let me know how that works out. I have someone in mind if yours doesn't work.

I RECEIVED GREAT NEWS FROM KGUN9 NEWS VIA EMAIL TODAY:

"Hey John,
Thanks for letting me know. I'd love to be there. I'll put it on the calendar if you could just touch base with me closer to the clean-up and give more specifics.
Thanks again,
Jennifer"

Jennifer and her crew will take the tour in our 100-series for the Cleanup. I'll let Tucson Off-Road know about this also via their forum.
