I recently got a pretty decent FJ80 from Austin Tx and drove it about 3 hours home. On the way home we noticed the gearbox hangs and has some scary-hard shifts in it. It has a little over 200k and ive done some well needed maintenance (spark, smogg bypass, fluids, filters, wheels, replace OEM parts here and there.) Ive been creeping on the Mud threads and knew this was the right place. Bottom line is I've decided it would be a hell of a nice rig if i put a manual and maybe get some more power and MPG out of the deal too.

Pictures of current state to follow- :wrench::zilla:

yeah man i was looking at about 4k for the whole deal going full OEM parts. But im looking at the FOR SALE thread thinking less now. thanks man so the h150 and 3ef bell. Is that the bell that i would have in my FJ80? and im assuming the H150 is the Manual Tranny

I think H150 are quite more rare than the H151 which are rare enough to find... maybe you should be looking at Australian ebay to find the transmission, flywheel, cross member and drive shafts. Then look for LHD shifter, boots, console, pedal, clutch lines elsewhere.

well i would want a RHD with it and i could fab a crossmember i believe... so tranny, flywheel, driveshaft...misc. what did you do to yours?

I would suggest fabbing as little as possible... just adds headaches.

Get a crossmember with the trans, it is the same for LHD and RHD.

The conversion is covered in my thread. The trick is finding a used part source.

Hey man i found a H150 for a 3f. It comes with the transfer case and tranny for $3,500 . Does that sound about right?

Part time t case?

How many kms on the H150?

Comes with bell housing?

That is top dollar. You can get one brand new for less than that.

Aussie RHD. Love my manual :) Gearshift consoles are rare as, most just have the rubber boot.

Wouldn't the odd shifting point to a stretched tranny throttle cable? Might be a simple, cheap fix. Manuals are always nice though...

I'll be starting a manual swap to my 3FE shortly. The project is vastly cheaper if you can find a truck for parts like I did. I start with the H42 then put in a H55 later.

Of course now I'm gonna need to get new digs or my truck will be screaming at 60 mph with 5.29s lol

Doing a swap with NV4500 ( chevy) transmission now. Quite a headache but finally figure most of t it out,...I think lol. Just need to some free time of to actually do it. I think I would like it better than the H151. Granny first gear (6.34 to 1) so can't stall with a foot on the brake. Higher over drive gear .78 compared to .86 on the the H151 (not sure the exact but something like that).
