Went wheeling yesterday. The radiator worked great! I ran a little hot on the freeway due to the dirt and a bit of mud caked on it, but a little wash and itll be fine.

Also have an exhaust leak now. My truck doesn't do so hot on the rocks, I drag the entire underbody due to not having any lift. I even high centered on a small boulder. ( quite embarrassing ) lol I was actually looking forward to using my winch yesterday, but didnt' get around to it.

Couple updates:

- Did an oil change currently on my truck ( fumoto oil drain valves are nice, best 20 ish dollars ever

- had a little mishap on the freeway today while going to the pet store... my truck likes to over heat at freeway speeds? I automatically assumed theres an air pocket/bubble in the cooling system. I turned on the heater ( 76 or something out today ) and roll down all my windows and it drove nicely, and didn't over heat.

- Bought a new CV joint, 10-w30 castrol GTX High mileage and a fram oil filter at O'reily today. So i'll probably swap that out either tonight, or this weekend. ( isn't it funny how all your IFS crap starts breaking when you decide to finally SAS? )

Got my passenger side CV joint swapped out. ( both CVs are now brand new and should last me until the SAS )

grabbed a new 2.25 exhaust gasket and the downpipe gasket from Toyota.

The truck should be top dollar again when the gaskets are installed :)

Tried ordering my front AUSSIE LOCKER for the Fj62 axle, but they're back ordered till the middle of April... s***ty.

:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

actually the 2.25 exhaust gasket is from Kragen. ive never had a problem with them, and they're a buck something. The downpipe gasket from Toyota is on order, and was 11 bucks. i'll letcha know what kind of quality it is when it gets here.

Pic would be sweet too. I'll have to see what style/brand the full metal one they gave me is. Actually has held up tons better since the other type had a tendency to fall to pieces and leave a strip of thin metal hanging right in front of the cat glowing and screwing things up.

*So, since nobody's asked yet, what're ya daily driving now? I still put on @150-200mi w/ mine. :D

haha yeah. When I get the toyota gasket, i'll take pictures of it.

Im actually still DDing the 4Runner, sorta. I have a work tacoma as well ( but I park it at the office ). I live within walking distance to my work. So, the 4Runner is garaged, the Tacoma is in the warehouse. and I get daily exercise every morning and evening :)

Got my studs and exhaust gasket today.

Put new pads and rotors on my 4Runner today. Also traded in my FJ62 calipers for V6 IFS Reman'd calipers to put on my straight axle... 104 bucks for calipers, cant complain! O'reily will never know :D

Bought another set of manual hubs to put on my 4Runner ( just to save the new CV joints I put in not too long ago. ) I originally sold my other set, but i found myself putting the money back into the truck instead of saving towards my SAS

I also bought an OME Steering stabilizer off craigslist new in the box. Bought it for s***s n gigs. figured it wouldn't hurt until I do my SAS. then I can just resell it for find a way to use it.

right out of the box.

Nice ride

Just love watching your build up man, keep it up.:D

Just love watching your build up man, keep it up.:D

haha thanks,

Im thinking of going a different direction with it. I might keep it IFS, lift it up a little. Throw a full roof rack on it, get my 1st gen roll bar cut to fit and have a camping tray installed. Might pick up a military trailer. get some 33x12.50s for it, skid plates, etc etc.

Initially I planned on doing an SAS, but until I own a welder, I just dont think its a good decision to jump into the SAS just yet.

So after long thought. Im gonna hold off on my SAS...

Im going to keep the rig IFS for now but going for the 35" tire build. Here's how its going to be setup.

2" BJ spacers
FZJ80 rear coils
2" 4crawler body lift
Rancho RS9000s
extended brake lines

So Here's a picture of my coils:

Here's a picture of the 4Crawler 4" Drop bracket and LSPV:

I'll be getting the Body lift from 4crawler once I see how the truck sits with the lift on. Im going to be raising the bumpers and sliders. so itll look flush.

The main reason im passing on the SAS for now is because I think i'd rather just go with a mild lift and focus on Expedition modifications. I've been dying to have a trailer, roof rack and my 1st gen roll bar in my truck. I also want to bed line my whole truck and really give it that "offroad" look. I also want to get a roof top tent.

I'm going to be keeping the 4.88s as im going to be going with a 3.4 someday. I'll have the 2" body lift already installed. so with the 4.88s and 35s. it'll match up nicely.

I'm hurt, as you know, but LMK when the install goes down and I'll come on out and oversight and provide security for the cooler from my lawn chair. :D (That or if we confirm the house purchase let you bring it here to wrench on, that way if anything goes funny we got a good mini-truck/Runner shop close by.)

Now's the time to be checking the overall condition on those ball-joints as well as all of the steering linkages. Pick up a Total Chaos idler arm while you're at it, reason being is 35's and well, I just went through my 3rd one in 3 years. (Yes, I do take my rig out despite the nasty rumors.)

I forget whether or not you have a cable driven or electric speedo output, if cable like mine is you'll also want to loosen the speedo cable from the output and the retaining brackets as it will loose it's slack. I routed mine around the brake cable bracket and cross brace to get a cleaner line.

EDIT: For that matter, if you don't have a bypass cooler I still have that B&M sitting in the garage you can have for cooling the steering better.

Yeah, I just want to build the rig around what I actually do/wheel. I think i'll be happy with my decision, and if I ever decide to SAS it, ill still have the axle regardless!

I actually just rebuilt my power steering pump. my Idler arm has about 15k miles on it, but its probably getting sloppy. Initially I was just going to brace it, but eh. I'd love a TC idler arm, but its serious bread. of course, itll last and never need to be replaced.

Not sure I believe my speedo is electronic. easy way to tell?

And Negative on the bypass cooler :) haha

Just saying, 35's will heat that steering box up easily.

Crawl under and if your speedo looks like this but with a swedge face on the end it's cable driven.

If you want to pt the speedo back to a correct readout you can go with a 33t or 34t output or combine an output with a .07 reduction box like I did with my pre-runner setup.

Pretty neat. I'll have to check it out.

my speedo is only 1 or 2 mph off right now though so i mean, its never really bothered me. I'll see about doing it when i hit the 35s. I'll probably be staying with the 4.88s since i plan to do a 3.4 swap someday.

What Body lift did you go with? 4Crawlers?
