I've been waiting three years for this version of the LX600. I'm in. I've been in since 2021. The year the LX600 started selling.

That is all dependent on the dealer. How does one go about getting on the wait list? Is there a deposit associated with it?
I'll find out this weekend. That is all dependent on the dealer.

Usually a deposit between $500-1000, dealer dependent. Refundable if you change your mind. I think I paid $1k for the GX wait-list, I'll let you know regarding the LX700h. The 2025 LX600 does not have a wait-list, not at my dealer at least. How does one go about getting on the wait list? Is there a deposit associated with it?
Yeah, there might not even be a wait-list. No hurry on my part.Usually a deposit between $500-1000, dealer dependent. Refundable if you change your mind. I like a 2400W AC inverter on board along with how well the a hybrid does on trail - (250 LC hybrid had better on trail manners than GX)I would not mind an LX600 over trail version, i.e. no hybrid tech. Fingers crossed they will, probably does not fit the marketing strategy and way they want to make money...
Could you elaborate if you don't mind?250 LC hybrid had better on trail manners than GX
Hybrid torque perhaps. See this video for a review:Could you elaborate if you don't mind?
74 Weld PortalsThese will be the next 80 series once they are about 10 years old and coming to 2nd or 3rd owners.
You'll forgive me if I am a bit gun shy on Portals...74 Weld Portals
38s
Optional Auxiliary Fuel Tank
Sliders
Rack
Drawer system
Should get the build started pretty well.
I think you're spot on here. It's hard to see them as viable long term products at $20k for a set. Needs to be more like $7-10k for the set. SXS portals are $2500-$4k. With all the limitations they add - they tend to only really end up on show trucks and that market is relatively small and exhausts demand after a few years. Maybe they'll get some volume and bring prices down enough to have widespread success in the offroad market where they'll have more consistent demand. I hope so. They're cool products that would be awesome to see stick around. You'll forgive me if I am a bit gun shy on Portals...
I remember a company in Utah called PortalTek that was all the rage about 20 years ago. They even had a set of Portals on a LX470 convertible that was at Cruise Moab (Alan Podvin owned the truck, I think?).
It was super cool.
PortalTek disappeared as have several other Portal companies over the years.
I'd be concerned about long term parts availability especially for stuff that is custom machined.
I think they’re excellent for IFS. They keep OEM geometry (easier on CV axles). Instant ground clearance. You can run bigger tires. And you effectively get a regear in the portal axle. A lift, cutting and trimming of the truck, regear, etc gets up there in cost closer to the $20k of portals and it’s inferior to a traditional lift. So I’d say it’s worth it imo. It would be the first modeling with wheels and tires if I build a rig again.I think you're spot on here. It's hard to see them as viable long term products at $20k for a set. I'm all for portals. I'm a bit skeptical that they would have decent highway manners because they're going to have a lot of leverage on the front suspension components and significantly offset the steering geometry. I expect that to amplify the steering feedback. For trail duty - awesomeness. But if I'm just going to trailer it - Why not go pickup a Honda Pioneer 1000, portals, a trailer, and a full cab kit within the same cost ballpark as 74Weld portals plus the installation costs and wheels/tires.I think they’re excellent for IFS. Not sure. Theirs are 5.11” gain portals vs 74Weld at 3.88”.wonder how long till these guys have something for the 300s.
