air cabin door

Just talked to Cruiser Dan, but before I order, is there anyway I can find out my 2005 has the filter access door? He said even the same year, some may have and some may not....

Stumbled across this thread while doing a google search for 2002 toyota land cruiser cabin filter location. Was at the dealer today for 75k service. When going over the 'Quality Vehicle Inspection' sheet, they circled a yellow dot next to the Cabin air filter. I asked about that, said it would cost $80 because they had to take the dashboard apart to replace. So either that service tech didn't know that certain year LCs did not have a cabin air filter or maybe there is some filtration component that is just buried a bit further than what is posted in this thread. Any one have first hand experience with changing a cabin air filter on a 2002 LC that DOES NOT have the access panel pictured in the original post?? The attached pics are from behind the glove box of my 2002 LC.

I'm sick of the dusty cabin in my 2003 100 series. Search threads, come here, first time I have actually really disliked Toyota as far as the LC is concerned.

I have no slot for filters. Is it seriously impossible on a car of this price that I have some sort of filtered air? EVERY car has it!

The black box with the B on it is the evaporator. That is where water would condense within your a/c system.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong photos? Look a few above your post. The tall narrowish black box houses the evaporator unit. The small black box is the antenna relay / controller.

What is the Black unit beneath the #1 on the first photo? I have a water leak. What is the fix?

Yep, beneath the #1 on the first photo is the evaporator.

The fix is to clean your drain at the firewall. it is a small rubber port on the passenger's side. Look along the curve as the panel turns towards the rear of the car.

interesting, but I believe wrong. The whole bottom of the box is tipped forward so it drains toward the firewall. I don't believe it is designed to be full of water or water tight. The seal is not like an aquarium. I removed my seal as it broke and I didn't have a replacement and I'm not leaking water into the interior. Just a month ago I changed my evaporator.

I'd check the drain again.

It appears that some LC's have the correct panel, while others of the same year do not. My '03 does not.

I have called the Toyota dealership & they do not show any access panel available for any 100 series where you can remove the cover & take out the filters. He said I needed to go to the Lexus dealership & buy all the necessary parts.

So, as one poster asked, has anyone retrofitted the LX parts into their LC for cabin filtration?

I am tempted to try, but would like to know if there any deal-breakers before I begin (such as the internal makeup on the non-panel rigs simply won't allow any filter to be inserted, no matter what front panel you have)

There is a whole thread on this (started by me). It's a doable conversion. Use the search, you'll find it.

The dealer said that the drain is clear. Said the seal on the black housing is bad.

You need to use FIPG (dealer available), my wifes LX did this when we got it, just some water on the floor mat. I tried clearing the drain but it had noth obstructing, searched on the forum and discovered the FIPG fix for the cover.

I just ordered 2 sets (4 filters) from densoproducts for $67 shipped ($16 shipping). Local dealer wanted $51 for 2 filters.

Oh I'm sure. Up here Toyota likes to screw us on parts. Two filters plus tax was gonna be $115 and no that is not installed. lol Just for fun I asked what it would cost for installation. Guy said 30 minutes at $120hr. So add another 60 plus tax to 115.

Cabin air filter

So what'w the bottom line? Is there an easy mod. for this?? Since it's not a plug in..
