I'm hoping that the handful of LX owners here have been following the 80 Land Cruiser Lockbox thread and have been seething with envy: 80 Series Lock Box- poll and questions

Well I'm making the 100 Series Lockboxes but I am going to be making up a handful of LX boxes as well. These will be the black Medeco locks and the WORKING Spring Hinges (doh). Since there is so little demand I need to find out which you are most interested in:

a) LX LockBox 2.5" tall no longer an option
b) LX LockBox ~5" tall
c) Medeco lock or combo lock (FWIW no one has ordered the combo lock on the 80s side)

Any other feedback before I turn this into a GroupBuy?

Joey, we were chatting on instragram. The 5" would be of interest to me. G26 security.
 
I like the idea of the 5" for my LX. I didn't realize that thread had gotten to the size it is, so I am going to be lazy and ask instead of digging through it all, what kind of price range are you thinking?

This. What price range are we talking about?

Also lazy to dig through the other thread right now, what's needed to fit the 5-incher in there (:hmm:insert your own joke)?

Which lock is most secure?

Whats the biggest handgun the 2.5" can fit?

If the 5" sits all the way up and doesn't offer the "concealment" and hidden compartment aspect I'll lean to the 2.5"
 
I like the 5". Nice addition of the black lock and working spring. ;)
 
Price for whichever size will hold a compact Glock & compact 1911.

Ok after giving this a lot of thought, and looking at available space, I'm just going to make the 5" version because there just isn't enough useable space to make it worth making a small one. Basically look at the mold line just below the top lip. I will be making it just below that line to be sure it will clear any APU-1s that have been installed.

* we will be getting the improved spring loaded lids (sorry 80s folks)
* we will be getting black Medeco locks
* if you have the LockBock for the 80 already (2nd vehicle) let me know and I will match keys
* powder coating and laser etching remains the same
* new concealment liner is being considered at this point because there is no point trying to hide it

On Friday I get the first prototype to test with. I will have more info then. My goal is to ship BY Xmas. Unfortunately because there are so few who will get this version it's not worth it for me to incur the cost of a standard machining order so I will be paying extra to run maybe only 15-20. That's it. Once they are gone I likely will not make them again. Honestly I'm only making the LX version because I want one for my own damn truck :flipoff2:

I will indeed be doing a Groupbuy to make sure these all find a home.

Price target is between $140-160.

Any questions before I start up the GroupBuy?

* $140-160 for the 5"
* I supply everything needed
* Medeco is more secure
* No longer making the 2.5" option
* I have no issue making the concealment liner but it's more of just a liner and less of concealing because it's obvious there is something there
 
I'm in no hurry, after Christmas is fine by me...
 
I personally would have preferred a 2.5" model or a 3.5" model, but I still might be interested in purchasing one for my LX.

I'd like to see a few pictures of it installed in a center console first before I decide, as I'm a bit concerned that the 5" model is going to be too tall for my taste & intended use.

I would make both but I'm pretty sure I would be shocked if even ten sold. I had to make a decision. I'll have proto in hand soon

I've been on deployment the past few months so I haven't followed your other thread. If it fits nicely in the center console I want one!
