Lowering or Lengthening Handbrake

With OME 864s in the rear of my > 6600 lb 1994 HDJ81, the handbrake cable gets stretched when I have the truck on a lift. I'm concerned that I could end up applying the brake at an inconvenient moment.

What is the common solution? I did search, without success.

I'm thinking a block to simply lower the bracket?
 
Uh most of our handbrakes aren't worth a damn... so it doesn't really ever affect the wheelability of our rigs.

Rarely will you have the back axle at full drop on both sides. If you do find yourself in that situation I would surmise that having a light pressure on the parking brake is probably not the primary concern.

Yeah, my old FZJ80 has a handbrake that doesn't work, and sticks. Rusted to crap. But my nice Japanese rig has a working handbrake with no rust! :)

You're probably right about the axle not dropping like the in real life. But it is painful to see it stretched when it's on the lift.

Just make a spacer, piece of tube and longer bolt, ~1.5" works.

Good idea, I'll do that.

I might just order that, since I intend to order some other stuff from them. Or not, if I see a friend of mine with a machine shop in the next while.

Does anyone know of an alternative provider for this drop block? Not against making one but it then becomes another thing to do on a very long list. A reasonably priced pre-made alternative might be a better option.
 
Landtank sells one that I put on my 80.
