Stretched our legs today going up into the mountains for a little fishing. Mrs. Wife & Love Bug manned the Tundra (with a tow-bar J-I-C) on the way up and I was alone with my thoughts & noise in the LC. Uneventful trip up. Nice cool day to head up there.
Fishing was good. 8 + 1 crawdad to hand and kept 4 for dinner.

Some pics:

On the way up there:

No trip to the mountains is complete without a stop at the ice cream shop:

Total trip distance was about 85 miles. It's the furthest and hardest we've ran the cruiser since taking ownership. I love this rig more than I should.
The LC did great and only slowed below the speed limit on a couple of the steeper hills. Love Bug rode with me on the way home.

More pics, because I know how you love them:

I'll check fluids tomorrow morning to see losses, if any. No signs of overheating, had oil pressure indication, speedo is off by 7-8mph at all speeds, but I can fix that... I think.

That's assume  you are gaining more confidence with every trip :steer: My daughter 36 now still has memory of riding in the ol 40

@mrboatman Yes sir! All of the gauges were pretty well centered, well except the oil pressure, but at the first hash mark. Temp stayed right between the goal posts all day. Next trip on a hot day, I'll temp the thermostat housing to get a rough idea for correlation.
I hope she'll look back at these trips with fondness.

Here's a pic of my temp pushing it pretty good up hill. 192 splitting the post.

Over due update. So Love Bug and I didn't get out much this summer with all of the fires and our favorite camping spots burned or no access. Up until a couple weeks ago, we'd take the LC out to the range and the local fishing pond. The Weber carb is leaking at just about every gasket and all of a sudden doesn't want to idle or run very well at all. I'll need to send off the '71 Aisin I've got to have "hands laid upon" by Mark. This is also a good time to cobble the rest of the pieces to get back to column shift. Looks like all I need is the brake switch bracket assembly and to unstick/clean/paint most of the parts I have.

Did visit Proffit's a few weeks ago while out on the western side of the state.... All I can say is WOW... incredible work goes on there.

If anyone has these laying around, please let me know:

About 20 in the box. Will pack easily with the carb. ;)

Got the carb back from Mark and went to install it. In my haste to go from Weber back to Aisin, it appears I didn't do thorough enough research.... I'm in need of a block with a vacuum line... Think it's called the insulator... My carb is from early 70's anyone have an extra? I'll also be looking for the metal line from the mechanical fuel pump to the carb...

I probably have what you need for the fuel line. I bought this part twice from SOR thinking it would work for my d40 carb, but no go. It was 70 bucks each time I bought it. Let me know if you’re interested I can send it to you for less than I paid.

Definitely interested. I'll message you.

Been for-ev-er since I've put some miles on the Cruiser... I put the carb on that Mark rebuilt for me only to realize I was missing the throttle return spring bracket... I made one out of some sheet metal... I'm crafty with a drill press and a Dremel... While I had some time, I replaced the metal fan with a plastic one and an adapter from Mark. I also needed some room in my garage, so I installed the best top rear seat too... I hope to get back to 3 on the tree, but I think wrapping the headers will be the next order of business.... The cab gets too hot during the summer with heat pouring in from the floor and firewall...
I know y'all love pics and I don't want to disappoint.

Results from the Adventure! Over 120 miles (longest trip yet) logged with over 70 of those on dirt/trail. Only issue is taking the paved road down the valley, I get noise (like a chirp) when loaded turning left... Bearing maybe in question... I see a knuckle rebuild in my future...

Gratuitous pics:

The Mrs. :princess: has determined that the running boards are a must for getting in and out of the LC!
Looks like I am missing metal on the channel of the board bottom. Does anyone have the proper T-nut and rubber spacer for the "board to stay" or a suitable substitute?
