1962 project 40

Hey guys, This is my first time posting so I hope I am not breaking any rules. I have a 1962 40 project I started a few years ago and just never did finish. Engine was rebuilt but I did not finish the install. Hard top, trans, axles, guages, heater, bumper, doors, etc...It is in a bunch of pieces because it was taken down to blast and prime. Body has some minor surface rust in areas but nothing too bad. Majority of the rig is included minus a few small parts and seats will need reapolstering. I will also throw in some extra parts for a 70's model 40 (unknown on exact year) such as doors and a brand new hell for stout bumper/ grill guard. I would like to move the whole lot and avoid parting out if possible. I have a good bit of pics but am not able to add attatchments at this time for some reason...pm and I will gladly email to anyone interested. Worst part of this deal is that it does not have any papers. I am in the Shreveport area but the 40 is in central LA near Leesville/Alex area. Would like to get $2000.

Welcome, a 62 model wow that's the good metal. Wish I had room to pick it up myself I hope you find it a good home. Feel free to post it on our Facebook page as well it's under groups Bayou State Land Cruiser association we have friends in there from all over the US.

well, let's just say the tires look reasonably new . . .

:hillbilly:

Can you guys keep an eye out for an FZJ80 or LX450 with a blown motor for me? I'm looking for something that is in decent shape and dirt cheap.

That 2nd one is more like what I am looking for. Non running is preferred.

Will keep and eye out for you bud are you looking for any specific year? with lockers or no lockers?

The more the better. It would be nice to get an FZJ.

I'm looking for something that is stock and is to the point where someone doesn't want to put money into a rebuild or something similar. I want to do an engine swap and suspension to make a nice DD/Tow rig with no payments.

Edit: This is an idea I'm tossing around. Nicole says I need to get rid of something. I thought I could get rid of my pickup and car and get an 80.

Somewhere on CL between laf and Houston. There is a guy with a red 80. Arb upfront. Wanting dirt cheap money, he says it runs, but has minor issues. I was gonna buy it but decided didn't need another project. He said it was good except the motor...

Gotcha :D sounds like a nice compliment to the family for sure. I love the versatility of the 80 whether Holden and I are taking road trips with the club or hauling the Scout Troop on a trip to toting the family or hitting the trails it has served us well. If I had a long commute I'd look for a used Camry or Corolla like I had at one time the company paid my mileage and the corolla paid for itself but being that I only go 4 miles back and forth to the office or around town I rather drive the 80 for sure. We'll keep and eye out for you bud.

Listing this for my brother-in-law if your looking for low mileage diesel tow rig this is a nice one. He's an air plane mechanic but I can testify all the service was done at the dealership at the requested intervals he doesn't turn a wrench on his own vehicles I could never figure that out
