Any chance of the center portion being available separately?

Can be done.

Ok guys i will be away till 21st traveling Central America. I just sent out 5 consoles to the people in Canada to do the test fittings. They will post their review here. If all good i should have them produced in bigger quantities by June.

I'll have a review of mine as soon as I can get it in! Thanks!

Edit: have a great trip!

Got Mine

Hi All,

Got mine,

Castings are sharp, without flash, and they are pre- drilled. The texture is nice and looks like coarse grained leather. Hardware also included. The mounting bracket for center section comes complete with chassis for radio and sun roof switches.

My install will be this weekend - I'm waiting to pick my truck up from the shop - should be ready by end of the week and then I'll get on the console

The VHT paint referenced earlier in this thread as a match for our tan interiors is no longer produced.

I sourced an alternate from Napa. Hi-Tech Vinyl, Plastic and Carpet Dye. product part number HT-235 Khaki.

I have mine waiting install as well!

Thanks for the heads up on the paint, need to head to NAPA for some.

Hahaha, I will post some pictures tonight and make an attempt at writing a review :p

Hey Guys.

So I had a chance to get the console installed when I got it last Friday but have now had much time to post a review as the gf got a Yaris and I have been driving that... what a savings in fuel :)

Upon unpacking I thought the material was a little thin but rest assured that once it is installed that it is very rigid. There were no instructions that were provided so I just went though Yan's photos and it is pretty straight forward, just make sure you put the silicone trim pieces on FIRST :bang: ... Its a little hard to do it after lol

A few things to note when installing, there is a metal bracket to hold the center section in place with an option to mount a CB or whatever you please, make sure that it is CENTERED perfectly or it will be a huge PITA to line up the holes on the plactic after... again don't ask me how I know :P

One of the issues I brought up when this thread was started was how it would be for us tall guys.... for those that don't know I am 6'8" and just squeeze into my truck... still looking at moving the seat back, somehow :hhmm:

I can say that if you are not planning on using your factory visors you will be OK. I still have plenty of room to see out the window and I can not hit my head leaning forward as much as I try.

A few things I would do to it other than painting to match would be adding some rubber mat to the inside surface so things don't slide around as I have a pen that likes to go sliding around or rattle non-stop.

For the RHD guys, you will need to either source a Sunroof Switch Panel from a USDM rig or mod the existing one as the mounting holes are on the opposite side of the switch board thus causing the switches to be backwards.

I will be adding photos from my phone shortly....

If you have any questions or want some more photos I will be happy to provide!

Thanks Yan!

I will try and get some better pictures but it basically looks the same as Yan's

The shelf opening looks small or maybe its just the pick. How tall of an opening is there?

Not an option at this time

Hi All,

I have the hard liner- 1997 LX450. The fiberglass head liner has a section between the sunroof and the edge of the sun visor that is molded and drops down so that the visor nestles in front of it. Looks nice but this factory feature interferes with the usability of the shelf.

The molded section in front of the headliner, drops too far for me to get my hand into the shelf. This makes the shelf only suitable for holding maps or pens. If the headliner didn't drop so far you could mount a small CB radio etc. The shelf is very sturdy.

I thought about using the shelf for an overhead area to mount my altimeter, clinometer, etc but I could fold up some metal more efficiently and use it for a mount instead and I wouldn't have to sacrifice/modify my stock visors.

However, I did like the center section and the internal steel bracket is excellent I may use this in the future for a radio.

This shelf could work but its width would have to be decreased so that there was more room to get your hand in and pull out what you have stored there.

By the way - told Akella about this and being the stand up guy that he is , he still encouraged me to post. They may actually rev the design based on feedback here.

People who received consoles please post you reviews/opinion as it will be very helpful as we are trying to create version 2 of the console and we need what people like and dont like.

I want to thank gofast and BCR4619 for their reviews.

I will have 5-10 more consoles coming in new few weeks. I need to know who will be interested.

I have mine but found I have two Right hand side shelves, we got them mixed up when we distributed them at our club meeting. Plastics look great, the metal bracket looks good. I did start installing the centre section before I found I was missing the left shelve. The metal bracket fit well but I had a hell of a time attaching it to the roof with the front mirror mount, not sure if it the hard liner moving it down or not but the bolts are too short to reach, if you push and bend the bracket up to start the bolts it badly deforms the metal mounting bracket.

I'll post all my findings when I get it installed, hope to have the left shelve this week. Again this was not fault of Akilla we did a batch shipment and we messed the sides up at our meeting with everyone looking at them.
